I find it kind of scary that some people are some embedded in their politics that they will demonize one of our country's best cities-- Or even regions of the country because they believe the score some type of political point by doing so. It's no better when liberals demonize the south.
Chicago is a great city, with unbelievable sports, great universities, cool art scene, super restaurants, and any part of the city you'd visit as a tourist as perfectly safe. I don't judge the entire south based on what I see on Cops...
That poem by Carl Sandburg which does not make it sound appealing. Also bitterly cold winters, stifling summers with high humidity that can kill you (I remember heat wave stories about old folks dying in their hot apartments), too many people in too small a space, etc... None of it is good. I've never wanted to visit there. Probably not what you were looking for, but that's what I think of. For anyone from Chicago - I'm not trying to diss your town.

Those people are extremists.
Don't worry, after Obama leaves office in a few years their hatred for Chicago will subside and they will detest whatever city the next Democratic President comes from.
Since conservatives consider Beck and Palin intellectuals.
