Right-wingers find the term "African American" far more insulting.

Doesn't offend me personally as I'm white but I do think it is offensive when used as a racial slur (as is any other racial slur)

how offended are you by the N word
I guess it all depends on how the word is used. I personally couldn't use it knowing exactly what the term implies. People should put more thought into what they say when adressing other human beings. Just ask Paula Deen.

Sigh, you WERE in the navy, you're not any longer. You didn't answer my questions. Do you work now? Do you use it in front of your boss & your parents? Your kids?

I'm not offended by the use of that word, but I don't use myself even in joking. Black people use that word often, but it seems nothing they do is ever considered racist. It's racist only when used by a white person.

Default how much does the N word offend you?

As a middle aged white guy, I find the term offensive if it's directed at someone with venom. It's a highly charged term with a whole lot of ugly history behind it. But then, I feel some pity towards the racist slobs who toss it around with intent. They tend to be borderline retarded and live miserable lives. Slow learners in tough situations who fall back on old outdated stereotypes, trying to find someone to either blame or feel superior to.

Sad...

If the blacks are using it with each other, why would it be racist?

I was under the impression that the worst word in the English language began with an F and rhymed with truck.

Thus, one of the poll options is not useful.

If someone ever called me the N word, I would get quite angry. I consider it blatant disrespect and a way to belittle me. Basically, someone is saying "I think you're inferior and subhuman" when they say that. That word was made to degrade Black people. I find it disturbing when other Black people use that word. One reason I don't listen to most rap music. It is stupid when people of other ethnicities use it. It is disturbing when anyone use it.

And for those who think that word is no big, answer this question for me: Why would you want to use that word? And why would anyone want to use that word knowing how offensive it is?
