And if they DON'T accept the lord? If they still have goodwill but are atheists? What a crock.
I agree with you, what crock, why must we accept their lord? The vatican and this domination by christianity is too much. They have this dang attitude of condescension, they accept others not like them, as long as they pay homage to their lord. How can one accept others with the attitude that the others are always wrong, that their beliefs are wrong, that their god is wrong.

You aren't seriously arguing that atheists are exempt from the practice of condescension, are you?
Wow, could you possibly twist his words more? He made no mention of athiests or condescencion, and there's other denominations other than Catholic that don't hold you in abject disdain if you don't follow the literal word of their Lord.
Did you miss the part where s/he was responding to the following post that specifically mentions atheists?

Love how the clueless Leftists have jumped on this comment as some sort of breakthrough. This is pretty much what many of us have been saying on this board and it is standard Catholic practice. You love the sinner not the sin. If a homosexual seeks Gods mercy all is forgiven. As the pope correctly points out it is the lobbying that's the issue.
Notice I start my threads with the "Gay agenda". It is sinister and unholy.

If you think that the Pope just reiterated "love the sinner, hate the sin," then you can't comprehend what you have read.
And the reason that this is a big deal is that it sends a clear message to Catholics in places like Uganda, where the they want to kill people for being gay.

Here ya go, northnut:
"They complain,” the Pope said in his homily, because they say, “If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good.” And Jesus corrects them: “Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good.” The disciples, Pope Francis explains, “were a little intolerant,” closed off by the idea of possessing the truth, convinced that “those who do not have the truth, cannot do good.” “This was wrong . . . Jesus broadens the horizon.” Pope Francis said, “The root of this possibility of doing good – that we all have – is in creation” . . . "The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart: do good and do not do evil. All of us. ‘But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.’ Yes, he can... "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!"... We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there.”

I suppose you do not know the difference between redemption and salvation.
Redemption is universal. Salvation is individual.
Which has been the teaching of the Church for at least 1820 years
You expect an atheist to necessarily know this?
Here, I will remind you of the poster asserted even though it is right above:

Accepting Christ isn't necessary for redemption. More Catholics and Christians should remember this.
