Read about it in another article. Once again Government will be picking winners and losers.
The Federal Government has no business dealing with Universities' performances.
You could be right. This plan, like HCR, has way too much Conservative influence in it's structure. Higher Ed should not cost the student anything, that would make it a pretty progressive plan.

Yep, everything can be blamed on conservatism. We should make conservatism illegal! Anyone who can balance a checkbook should be flogged. Spending within your means is backwards thinking!

The student loan programs are been the biggest reason why tuitions have been raised 200-400%, reflecting what the "new" market will bear. Colleges have enjoyed a windfall from government intervention. Student debt is at record highs. Every time the government gets involved, the opposite of what they predict will happen, happens. And to top it off, they make student loans immune from bankruptcy. Talk about legal loan sharking and usury!

Why do you have to lable it conservative influence? What about this plan is "conservative"?
Whatever the intent is of this plan is it will not solve the problem of rediculous tuition costs.
And yes higher education should not cost the student. How we get there is another issue.
The best way to make college better is construct more obstacles to keep unqualified people from attending. There used to be standards for attending college. Now anyone can get in if they can sign a loan agreement. If students had to pay out of pocket for their education, they would make better decisions on the classes they take. The fluff courses would go away.

That wouldn't fly here because of "discrimination" against non-smart people.
The progressives in Europe are smarter than the ones here because they know that everyone is not a winner.
