Congress could approve military action, and this President then choose NOT to take it. I suspect that his response to Syria has been planned for many months. Other nations may get involved and impose some other non-military action onto Syria, with a military action being only a small component. This President is smart.

Whatever the case, CHANGE is coming to Syria, and it won't be brought about by the Neanderthal methods of Dubya and the Republicans. It will be brought about by a brilliant President of the United States, a black man, in a manner just as effective as his implementation in getting Bin Laden.
barry is my servant. I bet that really bothers you.

There's a HUGE difference between neocons and conservatives. The Founding Fathers, some of the most intelligent humans the nation has ever known, NEVER would have fought all these illegal wars for foreign entities.

I'm more conservative than just about anyone and find all these illegal wars obscene. Basically you could say I'm an isolationist and for neutrality, and unequivocally opposed to any of them.

I'm against Obama taking us to war with Syria because delusional people like the poster above aren't going to be the ones fighting that war.

There are few Republicans who have articulated decent positions but for most of the tea baggers they just want to be the opposite of what ever position President Obama takes even if they have to flip a 180 to do so.

The reasons the conservatives are against this is simply because Its what Obama wants to do.
Exactly.

I'm sorry but this clearly partisan position is incorrect.
Obama shot off his mouth prematurely declaring a "red line" catching everyone off guard. Now he's stuck his foot in it thinking "well it's not so bad Bush did this several times and it went ok and in fact made me look better".
Here's the rub and what Obama didn't figure into the equation, he didn't think every other ally who's always been with us have said "hell no".
So now he's stuck, he shot off his mouth without talking to congress or our allies and now realizes he's out there on his own and what happens is of HIS making. Politically he can't deal with that since it doesn't allow him any room to blame others if/when it goes south so what does he do? He kicks it to congress so he can now blame them no matter what happens.

Syria is a shat storm waiting to happen. Russia has assets there and so are very against us messing around in their sandbox. What are they going to do if we in fact bomb Syria? What will Iran do?
Do we really want to get into another religious conflict right now only to waste more lives and money in an attempt to change something that'll never change, especially by a quick bombing.

My question to you is how is this any different than Iraq? Where is code pink and all those other protesters?
I guess it's ok to go to war as long as it's YOUR leader wanting it right?

The question is: why do all the Bots WANT to go to war with Syria?

Oh yeah, it's because they mindlessly want whatever their messiah tells them to want. Just like the Manson girls.

I believe they confirmed such weapons were used, but by which side? Second, while Assad is not a nice guy, neither are the rebels who are made up of members of terrorist organizations. Do we really want to put another terrorist organization in charge of a nation again? Third, dropping bombs on chemical weapons stockpiles will not destroy the weapons. It'll disperse them to the surrounding area. The materials must be incinerated at high temperatures to be destroyed. Fourth, our allies have said no to joining us in such an attack. Fifth, some Arab nations are making talks to try to handle the Syria situation themselves. This is preferable because they share the same religion, similar culture, and if it comes to them making war upon each other, it'll attrack all the nutjob terrorist looking for a fight. Sure the price of oil will go up, but so would the number of Muslim terrorist deaths. Sixth, it's not wise for a US President who closed White House tours, canceled performances by the Navy's Blue Angels, and proposed other shut downs due to the nation's budget would decide to commit to a war when we still have troops in Afghanistan and near Iraq. With troops having served so many long tours in combat, this isn't the time to join in what is basically a civil war. This happened before in Korea and Vietnam. Don't let it happen again.
While I applaud you for actually thinking things through, unlike many who seem allergic to the process ... there are several key facts that must be considered.

The first fact is, this nation's foundational principles and laws prohibit engaging in wars of aggression in the absence of someone attacking us or an ally that we have reciprocal defense treaties with. In the case of Syria, they have not attacked us, nor any ally, and their internal affairs are none of our business. If the UN feels the need, they can send in the blue helmets .... but since even that ghastly group is against an attack on Syria, stay out of it ... the law of our land requires that.

Secondly, the skirting of our laws which began under Bush and Congress in this unlawful abdication of power of congress to declare war makes all of them criminals conspirators. Congress does not have the authority to grant to the executive branch the "authorization" power to engage in war in the absence of a congressional declaration of war. This restriction is part of the balance of powers to prevent a military or other form of dictatorship taking control of our nation. The people's representatives in congress are the only ones holding the power to declare war on another nation. Yet, as with all incremental steps used by criminals, Obama has taken those crimes and one upped the Bush criminal by engaging in military action without even consulting congress ... so this dictator feels no need to even pay lip service to the law, and should have been removed from office long ago, if ever he should have held office at all.

Thirdly, the pretext of chemical weapons usage as the compelling reason to intervene in that country's internal affairs is a complete farce ... first, because the rebel-terrorists attempting to overthrow the Syrian government have been organized and funded and armed covertly by western (US) intelligence, just as was the case in Libya, and most likely true of Egypt as well. This, coupled with the facts that the rebel-terrorists have admitted to being responsible for the chemical weapons deployment ... weapons provided them by the Saudi terrorist regime, sinks the entire lie being used to justify action.

And finally ... we have already been told of the criminal conspiracy which was formulated during the Bush regime to take down 7 countries ... including Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc. .... this information was given to Gen. Wesley Clark back in 2001, some 12 years ago. So, not only would such action against Syria be a violation of US law .... the reasons given for the need to take action is a complete fraud, because the decision to replace the Syrian government was made more than a decade ago.
