Report: White House exerting ‘massive pressure’ on insurance companies to keep quiet

The White House is pressuring insurance companies not to speak publicly about Obama administration policies that could eliminate the existing health insurance plans of millions of Americans.

...
“Basically, if you speak out, if you’re quoted, you’re going to get a call from the White House, pressure to be quiet,” said CNN investigative reporter Drew Griffin on Anderson Cooper 360 Wednesday night. Insurance companies executives, Griffin said, ask heads of consulting firms not to criticize the Obamacare rollout debacle publicly.
Did they really think strong arm tactics would work ?

Nevermind...I've seen 4.5 years of "It's THIS, it's THIS, it's THIS. Ok, it's not THIS"

For anyone who thinks that workers hours aren't being cut, think again. I know first hand and I saw it happen. In anticipation of Obamacare, a major home hardware store chain that I worked at announced that no one would be getting over 29 hours per week. This affected some people greatly. One woman I worked with moved from NC back to TX to live with her Father since she could no longer afford to live on the shortened hours paycheck. There are plenty more stories to share from that one store too.

Wake up, get your head out of the nether regions where it appears to be stuffed so tightly and realize that the government is not here for you. They are here for their own vision of America. If you choose to be a part of that, then that is your problem.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a letter to all state insurance commissioners explaining the temporary waiver for millions of cancelled policies announced by the president yesterday.

The letter clarifies several much needed details:
• The temporary waiver from reform mandates in 2014 applies to individual and small group cancelled policies.
• The plans which may exercise the waiver are those which were in effect on October 1, 2013, scheduled to renew between January 1, 2014 and October 1, 2014, and are being cancelled or terminated due to health care reform.
• The specific Public Health Service Act (PHSA) mandates being waived for such policies are:
o Section 2701 imposing community rating and other premium restrictions
o Section 2707 mandating coverage of the 10 essential health benefits (EHB) categories per state benchmarks
o Section 2709 protecting clinical trial participants
o And other sections not as impactful to small groups
 Section 2702 requiring guaranteed availability of coverage (this temporary relief is not applicable to new sales after October 1, 2013)
 Section 2703 requiring guaranteed renewability of coverage (carriers do not have to renew the cancelled plans, and the relief is temporary, so carriers cannot renew these plans next fall unless more relief is provided)
 Section 2704 removing pre-existing condition exclusions for adults (this waiver is not available to small groups...only available for individual policies)
 Section 2705 prohibiting discrimination against individuals based on health status (this waiver is not available to small groups...only available for individual policies)
 Section 2706 prohibiting discrimination against health care providers (regulators stated in an FAQ that guidance on this mandate will be issued in the future, but for now carriers do not have to accept "any willing provider" and are permitted to set different provider reimbursement rates based on quality or performance measures)
• State insurance commissioners will need (but are not required) to approve this transition policy in each of their respective states.
• Likewise, insurance carriers are not required to renew cancelled plans under this transition relief, but regulators will work on modifying the final rule for the risk corridor program to assist carriers with pricing these renewals.
• If cancelled plans are renewed, carriers must send notices to individuals and small businesses that includes specific information.
It may be a few weeks before we see whether this "fix" yields results. Each state insurance department must decide if they're going to hurriedly develop rules to implement this transition relief. Insurance carriers with no grandfathered policies remaining have not underwritten, priced, or filed current plans with state insurance departments for 2014 because it was prohibited, so any carriers that do move forward have a lot of work ahead of them.

The National Association of Insurance Consumers (NAIC) says the transitional relief program could destabilize the market.

"The NAIC has been clear from the beginning that allowing insurers to have different rules for different policies would be detrimental to the overall market and result in higher premiums," the group says in its statement. "In addition it is unclear how, as a practical matter, the changes proposed today by the president can be put into effect."

HHS Secretary Sebelius told the Senate last week that she doubts this concept "can work very well since companies are now in the market with an array of new plans." On the CBS Evening News, Carter Evans reported that "insurance companies...say they don't know how they're going to implement the president's suggested fix, or even if they can."

The insurance commissioners in AR and WA have already blocked this process from moving forward in their states, and the commissioners of DC and LA have expressed concern.

Not quite; this Obamanation is the latest creation of the radical Leftists who hijacked the already-dysfunctional collection of losers, malcontents and economic preschoolers called the Democratic Party forty years ago; like everything they create, it's a cancer

And the most effective treatment for cancer is sometimes radical surgery.

HHS came out with this November 2010.
They let this sit and stew for 3 years.
They've also been handing out waivers for 3 years.

Did they think Americans would just shut up and pay ?

Third party people..we need to get a third party into this game.

D and R at the national level are bought and paid for and will promise you the world to send them back.
They only care about you at election time and they REACT to your outrage, not ACT in your best interests.

Default 39 Democrats Break With Obama to Pass Upton 'Fix'

39 Democrats Break With Obama to Pass Upton 'Fix'

On Friday, the House of Representatives approved legislation sponsored by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) that would allow insurers to continue to offer policies on the individual market. The vote was 261-157. Thirty-nine Democrats voted for the Upton Amendment, which is an indication the Democrat united front on Obamacare is cracking.

Let's see what Reid does with this bill.

Gee..playing PARTISAN politics at the expense of Americans.

the Dems who voted for know they will never be considered turncoats because Pelosi told them it was okay to vote for the bill; pure politics. Who are the 4 RINOs who voted against this bill and why would they? Bye-bye Obamacare! Go Ted,Go Sarahcuda

Fred Upton, the bill sponsor is a RINO. He is my rep here in Michigan. You can thank Freddie for your curly light bulbs and the ban of incandescent bulbs. I can't stand Fred. You can have him if you want him.

Third party people..we need to get a third party into this game.
We have a fast-growing third party; it's called the Libertarians.

But I don't think the people who sit in front of the tube guzzling their beer, or who dump their ashtrays into WalMart's parking lot would like what we have in mind.
