It does not matter any more. High-tech companies like Microsoft and Google are hiring more and more "Chinese" and Indians, because Americans are not capable any more. Thanks to the education system.

If you just want the children to be "happy" in school, they end up choosing doing happy things.

China and India have not cornered the world on high tech.

Vietnam, Singapore and others are now getting business because they can do it for less than the Chinese.

It has more to do with low labor costs than "Americans not being capable".
One American programmer = 2 Chinese programmers = 4 Indian programmers

Price and quality are both involved. The top 10 thousand Chinese programmers are better than the top 10 thousand American programmers.

In addition, when I applied to graduate schools (computer science) I noticed many new faculty members in top schools are Chinese. No matter it is in California, Massachusetts or New York.

BTW Singapore is a developed country with higher GDP per capita than many western European countries.

Well according to that CORE information I posted. That is the global agenda. To move it from the west to the east.

Plus Americans can just claim they have symptoms of ADD or PTSD, or headaches if they work and get almost as much living off disability, food stamps, Medicaid, housing vouchers as they would from working.

our liberal policies have been the downfall of the USA students
Canada doesn't have longer school days or longer school weeks or longer school years.
Canada doesn't kick the trouble makers out. We also mainstream students. We also have strong teachers unions. We have very strong liberal policies.
Next excuse?

In those Asian nations, they have a longer school day and longer school year. They also pay their teachers comparatively more and treat them like professions. That costs more money, which Americans don't want to spend.

This and the fact we have a very intellectually lazy culture. Compare most American youth to the East Indian youth that are raised by parents who are "fresh off the boat" and you will see what I mean.

You named states with good schools. You won't find the same in, say Texas. Perhaps at one school.

The issue is that the programmers in India and China are inherently younger and have less experience while the programmers in America are more experience. This will change in time, however. Once those nations get more experience they will be able to compete with Americans in programming just like they do in engineering and science today.
