Today's parents seem to be hell-bent on keeping Little Jimmy from getting any germs on him. And then they wonder why he's sick 100 times a year after going to daycare and school.
We never had a peanut-allergy table in any of the schools I ever attended.
And I know not one single person on this planet near my age who has autism.
Basically, parents today are stupid and the United States Government is complicit in that stupidity.

In other words to young parents these days, yes there is such a thing as being too clean. A lot of people don't seem to know that the bacteria on your skin do fight off infections from entering your body, as long as your skin doesn't break open.
Anti-bacterial soaps have no effect on viruses.
Many of the worst diseases/infections today are viral.
Pure soap (such as Ivory) and vigorous hand washing works just as well as any anti-bacterial soap.
This has been known by many in and out of the medical community for a very long time.
I never went for the antibacterial soap.
Figured you need some germs to stay healthy.
Also wrecks havoc on septic systems.
The bigger worry though should have been the effects on hormones that they recorded over the years in the lab animals.
Early puberty, threat of cancer, infertility….all issues we ARE dealing with in today's society.
Me neither.
The hormones ARE a huge problem. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they aren't in some way connected to the overall rise in auto-immune disorders we've seen the last decade or so.

Several studies have shown that kids in daycare actually get sick less as they get older. Why? Because they've been exposed to all sorts of stuff and their immune systems are stronger.

This is so funny!
When I heard this on the news this morning, the first thing I thought was "the cons on City-Data are going to be starting thread after thread about how the federal government wants to ban these soaps so more people will get sick and have to sign up for 'Obamacare'".
I don't think the FDA has changed much ;this is just that manufacturers have to prove germ killing claims as I have read. Just as same FDA warned against routine use of germ killing soaps for decades now. because of its effects. Viral is different and even hospital use 10% solution of bleach to water to clean against those. and not something use use to clean hands or other body parts. It does not say that all anti-germ soaps do not work. at all .
