Would mistaken property boundaries be manslaughter rather than murder?
He did shoot them to protect his property, which is legal in some states. Wouldn't his only crime have been to have failed to recognise where his property boundary ended? (assuming he was in one of those states). Just a simple mistake perhaps?
Why do you have to kill to protect your property in an instance such as this? Wouldn't it make more sense to to ask them what they were doing while he was holding his gun if he felt threatened? A mistake? Hardly!
The guy couldn't ask them , who are you and what are you doing? That would be a start...instead the guy shoots and kills them both.. way way over the top.. so if we see someone around our property we shoot them?? This is insane!!
This accurately describes the results of the gun culture that we have created and continue to foster in this country.

You cannot shoot someone unless they threaten you. You can get some arrested for being on your property but you cannot shoot unless threatened.
Imagine what would happen in the suburbs if little jimmies ball went in his neighbors yard....
"He came on my property officer!" Is not going to cut it.......
We don't need gun control. We need mental health checks and gun safety classes. People need to be educated about guns. They don't need their right taken away because of a few bad apples.

Exactly. The NRA and its minions have created a society in which shooting people is an answer to problems. On the thread about the guy who shot another guy for texting, at least half of the posters weren't expressing outrage, they were actually commenting on how annoying texting is … as if it really might be a reason to shoot someone.
As long as guns are considered cool toys and/or the solutions to problems, we'll continue to have school shootings and movie theater shootings and mall shootings and neighbor shootings. And the gun nuts will double down on the theme, and mock the rest of us for not being gun experts or for grieving or whatever stupid thing they think up to distract us from the truth.
We are a sick society. And getting worse.
I don't blame the NRA I blame idiots not trying to work things out sanely BEFORE resorting to shooting someone...

You are blaming the NRA for something the 2nd amendment allows....
All this misplaced outrage is just dumb.

This calls for re-education not banishment.
