If you live in a townhouse with 12 square feet of yard, then maybe. Out here in suburbia, in houses with real yards, I can't remember the last time I saw a landscaping crew mowing a neighbors lawn. But I do know of several teens who go door to door knocking every summer looking for yards to mow and driveways to shovel in the winter. Sounds like you might need o expand your (and your kids') horizons. Enterprising young go getters do still exist. Thankfully.

I'm pretty sure that many people working for those "professional" lawn services are illegals.

Trust me, no teen is going door to door, everyone has a lawn service in the suburbs. What horizon do me and my kids need to expand

So what, we are talking about kids still living with their parents.

That explains it then. You and your neighbors are lazy. The kids get it honest..... by watching their lazy parents. Why teach your children the value of being compensated for hard work when you can pay an illegal immigränt to do the work instead?

It all makes sense now.

We were actually having a side conversation about 14 year olds getting jobs and you brought up the professional lawn services.

The thread is, however, supposed to be about young adults living with their parents - you're right. I've already shared my views on that, but don't see that you have.

My post explains nothing. Yet your post explains your animosity. Why do you assume anyone is lazy. Many work long hours and on weekends they just want to relax and be with family. I guess you are saying there is something wrong with that.

If you, or anyone else has a teen son, and that son is not doing the yard work, and instead you hire the work out, you are doing it all wrong. Period. Its time for him to get up off his lazy ass and get to work.

If your kids are living at home saving up then I have no problem with that. My daughter moved out at 25 with over $20,000. While at home she paid her car payment, gas, student loan. She paid her way while saving.
