We learn history so we don't repeat it. Or have great role models to look up too. With the right determination you can defeat obstacles.

Cool story bro. Just useless replies of course.

Yes, it is American history, and should not be relegated to a single month.

Is Black History Month still needed?
We can retire Black History Month the day Polish-Americans agree to retire Polish History Month (October), the day Irish-Americans agree to retire Irish-American Heritage Month (March), etc. The fact is is only Black History Month that some people say needs to be retired shows what their real agenda is--i.e. to pretend racism is no longer an issue.

Peanut Butter - George Washington Carver - he found a lot of uses for peanuts and was a renowned scientist
Henry Blair - invented the spark plug

There are a lot of newer inventions also from black people but those from the past especially get lost in translation. Most people don't know much about black inventors.
Why is it neccessary to note the skin color of an inventor?

Black history should be taught when relevant to the time period being studied. Learning about the civil war, part of the discussion will be about the black leaders of the time. Learning about the civil rights movement, black leaders will be covered.

When learning about the Great Depression comes along in February we should not stop learning about that time period to spend the month to over indulge in black history at the expense of more influential events/people.

Their is not enough time in the year to cover all the important events/people in history. We should be focusing on the most important, not based on skin color. This goes for all of the other "insert culture/race here" history month that we have but are not in the forefront as BHM.

History is obsolete by definition!

How many history books ask if it was really dumb for poor White men in the south who did not own slaves to participate in the Civil War? But how can any competent history not ask that question?

What is the point of studying history then? Just memorize the names and dates of the battles to pass the test.

The difference is BHM is actually part of the school curriculum and receives national attention. I don't see the history channel running a series of programs about polish people in October or a month dedicated to the Irish at school.

Apples and Oranges, but both a fruit.

As it should be. Black kids need strong black role models instead of thug rappers.
