It doesn't matter what you imagine. What matters is where Rev. Wright himself places the origination of Trinity UCC's vision statement. Wright places that squarely on racist Cone's founding of Black Liberation Theology:https://web.archive.org/web/20080325...ing_points.htm
Cone is a racist. Wright and Obama jumped on the racist bandwagon.
Why do you insist on defending a racist?
Can't handle that your own link shows Reverend Wright saying:
I use the word “systematized” because Black liberation theology was in existence long before Dr. Cone’s book. It originates in the days of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
I'm pretty sure that Cone wasn't around during the days of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Pretty hard to found a theology when you don't come along for 400 years.

So... why didn't Wright go with that prior version? Note that Wright didn't subscribe to the theory until racist Cone published his racist foundation of Black Liberation Theology in 1969, according to Wright himself.
Again, DC, why do you insist on risking your reputation to defend a racist?

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Being dishonest here. There is no "prior" version. If one scholar writes a book about the English monarchy, and another scholar writes a book about the English monarchy, the English monarchy is not changed. In this case, a scholar wrote a book about Black Liberation theology. Black Liberation theology is a topic. Different scholars will have different takes. Just like when sociologists study crime. How many sociologists have written books about crime? None of the books actually changes crime, or even the nature of crime. They simply and hopefully expand our understanding of the topic.
And I've not defended any racists. This accusation is a personal attack, against the terms of service on this website. Please refrain from violating those terms.
Rev Wright is steeped in the teachings of Black Liberation Theology.. Cone the founder and racist has stated that Jesus was lynched by the European white devils who are the anti-Christ.

Obama is not Wright, and Wright is not Cone.
The American people have twice been able to make that distinction. What's your excuse?

Cone is not the founder of Black Liberation theology, and Wright does not say he is.

Reverend Wright wrote books on Black Liberation Theology.. his belief system is the same as Cone.. Obama sat under the teachings of Wright for over 20 years.. Nuff said.
Obama encourages dependency, that's as un-American as you can get. Most people, no matter what race don't want to depend on government although some bought into the democratic meme of "you can't do it without government" and they don't even try. Obama encourages this thinking.
America has been built on not allowing one man, one party to have too much power. Obama has done everything he can to acquire more power. Very un-American. Too much power in the hands of a few is dangerous. Don't let anyone man or party (democrats and republicans included) convince you that government has your back. Government works for us, but now we the people have allowed them to become our masters.
As far as I can tell, nothing in those two paragraphs is obviously true. Perhaps the American conservative movement would be in less dissarray were they able to tell the difference between their fevered nightmares and the actual situation. But until they manage that task, they will remain marginalized and anathema to the American center... the part of the electorate that actually decides elections.
You can't win a battle if the hill you insist on attacking is imaginary.

The American people have proven twice that they can tell the difference, even if you cannot.

Not so. Wright himself specifically states:
Quote:
"The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theologythat started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Cone’s book, Black Power and Black Theology."
Wright went with Cone's racist systemized Black Liberation Theology. Obama was not only fully on board with that vision for 20+ years, but he was also married in that church and had both his daughters baptized in that church.
