I wouldn't know about 1968 because I was in still in elementary school. Why is it such a problem that I lived off minimum wage as did so many others. Then is when you could actually live off minimum wage.

I don't know your circumstances and I don't know what the minimum wage was or the cost of living when you grew up. I know what it was when I grew up. I know that I had to have two jobs to keep a roof over my head and the lights on. Perhaps you were fortunate to have fallen into a narrow window in time. If that is the case, then good for you, but the point is, minimum wage never in reality payed enough with one job to pay the bills. It was never intended to. Minimum wage is entry level and at least when I grew up, that was what you made when you were still in school and working after school and weekends.

Yes minimum wage is entry level. But there was a time that you could live off it. And no it it was not just for students. I worked at roy rogers during school yet got the same pay when I found a real job after graduation.
