They are not doing well. No LIE.
I'm 24 years old. I have no right to complain about my financial situation. You won't see me going boo-hoo about single folks that make $40-50K / year that ***** about not being able to live. Like I said, they need to look in the mirror. Life really isn't that complicated.

You can afford to. If you can't allocate 9.5% of your gross to health insurance, you need to make some personal budget changes.

How stupid do you have to be to not see the scam?
Yes, welfare is such a glamorous life!!!!

Redistribution is the main purpose of taxes. This isn't new.

In addition to all the free housing, food stamps, free Medicaid.

Very very unfair system that rewards irresponsibility and punishes a work ethic.
when my sister in law seperated from her husband awhile back, she didnt even care if he paid child support or not. She said the EITC she received was more than child support he could have afforded to pay for 3 kids.

Now the son is old enough and moving out, and she's trying to find out if her insurance will pay to untie her tubes so she can have another kid..

If you are now able to speak for everyone elses financial situation, then why arent you insisting that those who are receiving subsidies, contribute the same amount rather than receive handouts?

Clearly 9.5% of their gross income would be far less expensive than those who are paying to subsidies others, correct?

This I have to hear. Your relationship status bases on everything from your car insurance rates to the taxes you pay to the money you make. If you got around all that, please share.

The problem is -- that poster is right -- that's how it is now.

Some lazy person wants to get out of working there are many easy ways. Welfare is now a lifestyle choice, have kids you can't afford -- big rewards waiting for you. Claim some sort of emotional disability and there's all kinds of free money coming your way.

Work hard and bam!! The government is going to try to destroy you, it will confiscate whatever portion of your income it likes -- because it's got a fast growing welfare class that wants the good easy life.

If you are receiving a subsidy, it is because 9.5% of your gross income is less than the total cost of the health insurance premium. Hence... why it is subsidized.

You are conflating things. The premium costs X. Your subsidy is X- (9.5% of AGI). If the subsidy value is negative, you are a giver.

Taxes do not fund the government. Taxes are purely for deflation and redistribution of resources (money).

This is probably the first tax thread I've ever joined because single people do get the shaft. The government continues to subsidize child-birth despite not having enough decent jobs for them, and not having an empty country to populate like it's 1945.

I doubt it will change, both parties are ga ga for goo goos (babies).
Are you saying that single people don't need schools, safe roads and infrastructure as much as people with children? Come on! These things benefit EVERYONE. Imagine what our country would be like if we didn't provide schools. There would be more crime, less qualified people to create jobs or even get a job, and far more taxes from you to keep them from starving. And it should go without saying that even childless people want safe roads and infrastructure.

Are you kidding me?

Have you ever met someone on welfare? These discussions are absolutely pathetic. People on welfare are not living some glamorous life that a middle class person would be envious of. If they are, they have perfected the art of welfare fraud.
