I have no kids. If I have kids, I intend on homeschooling them. I was homeschooled. School boards can't handle cash correctly. I shouldn't have to pay for my neighbors kids. Yet I am forced to pay? What is this? It feels like I am in some horrible socialist-communist state.

Also, if I buy property, why should I pay the rest of the things associated with property tax on a yearly basis and not just pay it in full when purchasing, or have it included with a mortgage? Why am I constantly obligated to pay property tax every year? What would I do if I wanted to retire?

If your house catches fire, why should I have to partly pay for the fire department to douse your fire?

We all live in a community. Let's at least act like we do.

I should pay for the fire department if I want to use the services of the fire department. I don't mind paying a reasonable amount per month for that. But schools? why?

Property taxes are optional... if you don't like them, then don't buy property... property is not a requirement to live...

If the Police Department are corrupt, and don't do anything to protect and serve me and I am forced to use a private sector security firm, should I have to pay for the police department?

I also refuse the idea of paying an insurance company if I need medical help.

Because you benefit from living in a community of educated, socially adjusted citizens. That is the goal of public education no matter how much they bungle it up.

Where would you rather live? Where would a business owner want to set up? Where would tourists want go to? Where do you think the better fire departments are located? Where are the better government services located? IMHO it is where the best schools are located.

Also, being a taxpayer, you also have a say so in how well the schools in your community do their job. There is no rule where only a parent of a student can attend school board meetings.

I'm very much conservative but if there is one thing we need to do as a nation is educate children. We have enough idiots in this country, we dont need more. Did you have a public education? Your parents? Your Grandparents? Your employer? your employees?

That doesn't mean I'd stick with the status quo either, for example you mentioned homeschooling and I'd be all for providing homeschoolers with funding with some minor strings attached,

If you can't figure this out, maybe you should go back to school. Seriously, why a society would want an educated populace should be a no-brainer. Start a business and try to succeed with an illiterate workforce, for starters.

There's no real way around them, but they should at least increase the burden on people who have more kids.
