The easiest way to destroy a country is deny education to its citizens.
That's too obvious.
What we're doing is more subtle but is reflected on international tests.
We've gone the other way with "Everyone is a Winner" and "Everyone will go to college".

And you did say "option". CC has no options..EVERYONE will get taught algebraic concepts in elementary school..even the SPED students whether they are developmentally ready or not.
Thats not what the Common Core Standards website says

I have never seen anyone argue that everyone will/should go to college, only that they should be able to have that option if they so choose.
When I was in elementary school in the 60's we had 3 classes per grade, and each class was ranked (high, middle, low achieving students). I can remember riding my bike to school at the end of summer vacation and peeking in the windows to see what class we were assigned to, hopeing we didn't get put in the "dumb" class. They put our names on the desks and assigned seats back then so we could tell.
But you know what? It didn't work. Not at all. So many kids would end up in classes where nothing could be learned and teachers couldn't deal with it either so you know what they did? THEY TRIED SOMETHING NEW. And they continue to try new things.
Some people want to think there is a magical answer to societies problems that can be found in the classroom if only they did things a certain way. Those people are wrong.

Why would they differentiate between college and career if they meant the same thing? Im honestly trying to understand your point of view here. At the moment its just your word against supporters.

Sorry, i put the wrong part in bold. I was talking about the part about abstract thinking. CCS says those same benchmarks are already in place and have been for years, they are simply making them uniform across the nation.

Excellent question and more parents should be asking that of their school boards.
