I lived there in the 90s (LA) going back today is much nicer, lots of new construction and less crime (thats going on all over but more so in California)
Still wanna see the new bridge in San Francisco.
New bridge? I missed that one. Living in the mountains can be a little isolating apparently.
If we are going to toot our horn as the greatest country in the world ( not necessarily you) because we give more then everyone else and thus more rightious. I believe its important to understand that what we give in aid is eqivulent to the pennies, nickles and pocket change we pull out of our pockets to give to beggars on the street. No big deal.

Who said "we gave more than everybody else" Therefore "we are more righteous."
Maybe you just like to twist other people's words?
Other than being the most tolerant, there isn't any other index to prove the US is the best country. Every well being index I've seen shows the US is just barely making it in the top 10.

Title of thread: What makes the US the greatest country in the world?
Your response: Americans are the most generous.
Why Do We Give So Much Foreign Aid? I don't know.
My response: In dollar amount terms, the U.S. gives more than any other country, spending more than $31 billion—though that accounts for a comparatively low 0.19 percent of GDP
Another words if we want to be known as being the greatest nation because we are the most giving? Shouldnt we give more then just the pennies, nickels etc in our pockets? UAE now spends 1.25 percent of its GNI on aid. Norway and Sweden were next. That in my opinion is blind patriotism and self rightiousness. Now compare the total wealth of Norway & Sweden to our wealth and compare giving and you will see what im saying.
