Don't forget the fast-good guys (at least in the past). When I was in high school, our school cafeteria sold as a lunch option - every day - taco bell, chick-fil-a, and pizza hut.

I just visited my district's website, and I'm glad to see they are no longer selling these options in the schools.

$4.00 X 5 days = $20.00 X 4 weeks = $100/month.

That is a hefty chunk in the current Obama recession.

Only rich Democrats who praise Michelle's menu could afford to pay it.

Those “Evil, Rich People”
That's pretty cheap. Don't have kids if you can't afford it though. Maybe people should give up the gas guzzling SUV if they can't feed the kids.

They are better off not eating than eating the processed garbage that most school lunches include. Keep the healthy school lunches coming! Kids have been conditioned to eat processed sugary **** and need to get back to eating non processed foods for overall health.

It's new and that might be the problem.

Needs more time for the kids to acclimate.

I thought conservatives were against low-income people eating junk rather than healthy foods.

Have you ever seen the portions of these meals? Like I said the one kid mentioned to me getting 5 tater tots. Not 4 tater tots, not 6 tater tots... 5 tater tots. When I was in high school it was probably about 15.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way we eat, too -- except I can't get the kids or husband to eat kale no matter how hard I try. When my kids were that age, one of their favorite meals was a lentil casserole served with endive "spoons." Yes, really. In fact, it's still a favorite.

The problem is that many of these children are not being served these foods at home, and children will reject the unfamiliar. So we must come up with flavors and textures that appeal to children who need subsidized/free school lunch while still offering optimal nutrition for their growing bodies.

We always had good food when I was in school, wasn't necessarily super healthy but they made a lot of it from scratch. The guy that ran the food service actually knew how manage a food service. For example if it were spaghetti there would be homemade meat sauce on it, fresh garlic bread and a side of salad.

So why can't he bring six bologna sandwiches on Wonderbread?
