Any respectable man would get a solid affirmation of "yes" regardless of the law. Beyond ultimately protecting your hide, it's what a decent person does.
But please continue with explaining why the state shouldn't try to prevent rape. Or is date rape, incapacitated drunk sex, or heat of the moment cohesion not "legitimate rape?"
You must have lived through a different 90s than I did. Sex has never been off limits. And there's much more going on if a young man cannot control sexual urges because of sex in movies.
Not defending indecency in Hollywood, or early sexualization, but poor decisions and worse parenting is to blame for non consensual sex, not movies.
When did I ever say that the state shouldn't try to prevent rape? What a fallacious assertion! You know what would prevent rape? Allowing women to carry guns, even on campus, that would reduce rape and would probably prevent future campus shootings.
Also while I always back off if a girl says "No" or"Not now", there have been times that a woman and I were lost in our passions and not one word was ever spoken. That kind of sex....well it's the best sex quite frankly, most people have had similar experiences and it is consensual.

Aaaand there it is! Just add a gun to the situation -- problem solved! Surely any woman worth her salt will be able to scrounge in her purse for her firearm whilst being attacked and overpowered by a man -- a man who would not ever, ever take that firearm from her.
No, it just happens like magic:
1. Woman carries a gun
2. Man attempts to rape her 3. ???
4. No more rape!
See how easy the world works in the mind of a gun nut?

She does not have to carry it in her purse, but on her side holstered, Conceal Carry and all that. Rapists want power, a gun pointed at them removes their power, guns in the hands of law abiding citizens reduces crime.

Right, and when she's taken by surprise and overpowered by a much larger man, then...??? What? Voice-activated gun?
This is the problem with thinking that everyone should carry guns. You don't think about what would actually happen in that situation. You just think the presence of a gun will automatically diffuse the situation, that there could not possibly be any other outcome.
And good luck convincing women to carry guns in a holster at their side. The vast majority will not do it. A gun is not the solution.
Have you actually read the whole text of the bill? It seems to be concerned with denying state funding to colleges and universities ("state funds for student financial assistance") who do not have acceptable policies in place for dealing with sexual violence and misconduct (and accusations concerning such) on campus. I see no problem with this. Sexual violence in places of higher education is a serious problem in America, and there is certainly no problem with the concept of enthusiastic consent.
The only thing that concerns me is that such laws do nothing to stop the problem at its source: the way people are raised and educated and taught to view each other, especially, how they are taught to view women and sex in general.
right, and rico laws were originally intended to help the feds get rid of organized crime. we have to understand however that there are unintended consequences to every law passed by a government body. a creative prosecutor, and a liberal judge, can figure a way to make a law, like rico, apply to everyday events, thus making criminals out of ordinary people.

i agree with this, but we have to be careful not to go overboard with the way laws are written, and the open to interpretation by a prosecutor and judge who will try to apply a law in a way not originally intended.

Your scenarios are ridiculous, while that does happen the women would still stand a far better chance of not being raped if she had a gun with her. A gun empowers people, it empowers women, why would anyone have a problem with that? The average woman probably does not have the physical strength to fend off a rape attack from a much stronger man, but give her a gun and now she can.
Carrying a gun on your side is not uncomfortable, I know many women who would like to do so but cannot as California is an anti-2nd Amendment State and wants women to be victims rather than survivors. I take it you have little to no experience with firearms? A gun is a solution, it would cut rape and all violent crime, including mass shootings, by a strong amount.

You do realize that this policy is aimed at reducing acquaintance and date/social rape, not violent stranger rape. I can see an argument how arming women could possibly, maybe, reduce the latter, but not so much the former.
