While California can be nutty at times, the above post is a very valid point. We shouldn't be turning a blind eye towards sexual violence, rape, abuse, etc.

Any respectable man would get a solid affirmation of "yes" regardless of the law. Beyond ultimately protecting your hide, it's what a decent person does.
That's the most naive statement I've ever read.
Hundreds of millions of people have consensual sex every year without ever asking and getting a verbal "yes".
You, and the CA legislature are addressing a problem that does not exist.
