absolutely its about the team not winning games. if the redskins had winning seasons, and went to the playoffs fairly regularly, and perhaps even another super bowl, none of this would matter to anyone. but since the team sucks rather badly right now, people are going to have their fake outrage and cry about how bad the redskins are and that they should change their name because its racist somehow, despite the fact that over 85% of american indians either dont care or like the redskins name, as long as the team doesnt besmirch the name in anyway.

Also, your comparisons are completely different. Irish is a nationality where as redskin is a slur. If the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame were called the "Fighting Micks, then you would have an argument.
Bull hockey. It is the ultimate form of liberalism - progressive. This is moving into the territory of thoughtcrime. When was the last time you heard anyone refer to anyone as "redskin" other than a football player? Yeah, it's that prevalent. Gee, what a slur...not!
Bleeding heart PC liberals have coined the term "N-word" which is worse than what it designates. I am offended by the word "hand" and want it changed to "manual extremity". "Head" should be "cranial vault" and other bodily parts should be renamed as to not offend those who suffer from maladies to these parts. Disabled/handicapped is racist as well.
