I have several AR's in 5.56/.223, 40cal and in .308/7.62 NATO along with a few Lever Action Rifles in .44mag and 30/30 along with several shotguns all in 12g and long list of handguns starting with 22LR and about even common caliber going all the way up the scale to 45ACP. About the only type of gun I do not own are bolt action rifles, but I have nothing against them, just do not need or want one.
Hope that answers your question.

I can't wait to find out how much safer we all will be when every child, crazy, and criminal can make their own fully-automatic high-caliber weapon! The founding fathers would surely orgasm at the thought!!!

Hey great--a new way for paranoid schizophrenics to obtain weapons. Massacres coming to a neighborhood near you. Lol--and people are worried about getting Ebola? Only in America do people become hysterical over the wrong killers.

Actually, I am much more interested in having the capability to PRINT all the parts to assemble a Honda 305 Scrambler!
Or the needed parts to repair a Yaesu FT301D transceiver (transistors, capacitors, coils, etc.).
Or lots of other stuff.
I neither want nor need any more guns.

We are not talking 22s and you know it, try that will a 5.56 or .308 and see how that works out for ya.
I apologize for calling you an idiot, you are right that it was uncalled for. I still find the implication that one would only wish to 3d print a gun in order to do something illegal to be a juvenile one.

No rifle requires a chrome lined barrel. It is done for durability over the course of 1000's of rounds, not because it has to be done. I brought up .22's because it is the opposite extreme to a chrome lined barrel, one that is relatively soft.

Incidentally, the gun in the video sounded and acted like a .22lr

EDIT:
Looking again, the bolt and trigger group appear to be from a Ruger 10/22 - so comments about .22's not needing terribly fancy hard barrels would seem to be appropriate.

You can also print out body organs to repair the damage done by printed firearms.

Accepted. The statement comes from the question I asked which was why go through all that when one can go down and buy whatever firearms they want, oh except for some of those no longer made, otherwise it would seem like there is no valid reason to build one this way, and yes creating an illegal weapon could be possible but then again it would still be easier and more cost effective to simply modify an existing weapon and that is not only cheap but easy to do, less than a handful of parts and you are there.
You can get a good 22LR for around $300 and an excellent one that shoots Shorts, Longs and Log Rifles all out of the same gun for between $500-600 and you get a warranty. I agree, a 22 does not need a chrome lined barrel but my Windham 5.56mm would have burned up long ago with as many rounds as I have put down range with it. No thanks, I will stick with good old craftsmanship made by people that are specialists in producing them using the very best in methods and skill, I do not mind working on them, but building them, nope easier to get it from those that do so for a living and have all the right tools.
I understand why some like the idea, the Government cannot remove their rights if they can make them themselves, but once again if someone feels that way simply buy your guns now and buy spare parts and accessories to meet your needs for the foreseeable future. I did and continue to do so, ammo ammo ammo, jeeez the stuff costs as much as the weapons if you are seriously preparing.
So in conclusion, I see why some might love the idea, but the reality is you will probably spend less and will get better craftsmanship simply buying what you want from a good dealer or the guy next door than going through all the mess of trying to build your own.

At the moment, you will get better quality by just purchasing professionally manufactured guns. Give it a decade, and the scales may tip on the quality and cost questions. Personally, I don't care for plastic stuff much, so I don't share the excitement, but I do understand it.

I know a lot of guys who've built AK's and G3's from demilled parts kits. A couple now have 07 FFL's and do so professionally. The ironic thing to me is that the a huge cottage industry was born of the 1989 military semi-auto importation ban. Talk about unintended consequences! Given the broad applications for 3d printing, I would guess we'll see it going the same way - attempts to control and regulate will simply result in unintended consequences.

What about guns that have never been available? Ronnie Barrett had that idea in the 1980's but he had to buy his own metal working equipment and install it in his garage to get started. His first 50 rifles were built there. Nemo Arms seemed to like the AR platform but was limited to cartridges longer than 51mm. R&D would have been much faster and cheaper in adapting the AR style rifle to the .300 WIN Mag round.

Because you don't have the inclination to do this, doesn't mean that others don't. I have no urge to build my own car but there are even TV shows dedicated to that.

I want to build my own receivers so that only I know I have them. I also want to work with custom colors when anodizing.

As I asked why the excitement? Why not just buy what you want, or is what you want illegal?
We'd still be banging rocks together to make fire if the human race thought like you.
