The Israeli's attack has never been this prolonged.
The fact that hostilities ended for periods of time throughout the last decade proves that ceasefires have been negotiated.
The fact that every single one of those negotiated ceasefires have been broken proves that none of them were worth the paper they were written on.

The U.S does not put enough pressure on Israel, and Israel simply can't be reasoned with.
I disagree, there is a huge fundamental flaw in these negotiations Kerry and Obama are having between Israeli government and the Hamas government, because the first thing they all need to agree to and accept, is the right of existence for the state of Israel.
It's like trying to get a group of scientists to work together and build a space ship to Mars, when one half of the science team does not believe Mars exists, and the leading scientists refuse to take a position on the existence of Mars.
Both are true as Hamas simply has one goal kill as many Israelis as possible. During the ceasefire today, a Hamas militant blew himself up in front of Israeli soldiers - killing 2 of them and then Hamas kidnapped the third one.

Hamas has gotten many more Palestinians killed than Israelis. They use them as pawns.
The only objective for Israel is continued occupation and ethnic cleansing. For the US is more military equipment sales, testing their new devices and showing the world who has the most powerful war weapons.
This is just a show, they are both getting their objectives met.
Palestinians will continue to die because they are poor and powerless. Nobody cares for them. We will just continue seeing civilians dying while Israel blame them for their own deaths.
So why then do the Israelis call up by phone residents of Gaza to vacate areas in advance so they won't be in an area that is going to be bombing by airstrikes?

This war is going longer than other because of the elaborate attack tunnel system that Hamas has built in Gaza to attack Israelis.
Everyone is excoriating Kerry for his foolish approach, but Kerry takes his marching orders from Obama. A lot of people in the Arab world don't like Hamas, except for Turkey and Qatar, both backers of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, and the two countries Kerry enlisted in his negotiation efforts resulting in a mess Israel would never accept.
Obama supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and he appears to support Hamas today.
I would say both. Kerry needs to go back to France and play his crappola. Hamas needs to be destroyed. It will both happen I'm sure.
Kerry was exactly who the Republican party wanted in the job, so it's a bit late to be whining about him. Blaming a SoS for not magically being able to fix violence in the middle east is a little silly.
