Crime has been declining in Chicago for 20 years Sparky.
Suicide in Alaska and all gun heavy states is aided by the fact that gun suicides are almost always successful. The states with few guns have much lower total suicide rates.
Compare gun crime in the US to the UK.
Crime has been declining in America for more than 20 years Sparky, in fact the more we continue to allow people to arm themselves the lower our crime rates go.

I am pro gun, but let's remember that crime was falling even when Clinton banned guns, and it continued to fall after the ban expired. The ban did not seen to have any effect either way.

To be honest lets not forget that in the past 20 years a lot of gun control went in, including registration, wait periods, permits... It's not like nothing changed since 1970s...
You paid a lot of money to train me how to properly and effectively defend this country with a rifle, I know enough people locally with the same kind of training who would be very proud to do their part defending this nation against a threat.
I also share the belief that shooting is a sign of a well-rounded man, that's why I'm skeptical of the mental ability of any man that supports strict gun control.
What was the sign of a well-rounded man before guns were invented? Also, can one not support gun control yet be an accomplished marksman in several categories? They are not mutually exclusive. I don't think your position is particularly well thought out and am skeptical of your mental abilities.

Clinton banned assault rifles.
The fact remains that gun control is not linked in any way to a reduction in crime. In other words, civil rights have been restricted for hundreds of millions of Americans for no public benefit.

And the areas were all those things were put into place do not have a lower crime rate than other areas or showed a marked reduction in crime once those laws were put in place.
It is self evident that criminals do not follow gun laws and all these laws passed only hinder regular people from exercising fundamental inalienable civil rights.
Oh c'mon. Waiting period, registration or background check applies to some areas now?
of course crime went down as we finally STARTED to control gun ownership and it all started about 30 years ago... Brady law etc etc

Most states don't have waiting periods, most states only require a background check when purchasing from a dealer.
It is best to learn about the subject you would like to post about.
How about doing a little reading comparing the crime rates of states with more restrictive laws to the states without them.
Anyone who is intellectually honest will tell you that guns do not cause crime and areas with a large density of gun owners are actually much safer than the areas without them.

Actually, the Assault Weapon Ban Act of 1994 was allowed to sunset into oblivion because it was purely cosmetic and completely ineffective. The Brady Bill was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 1997. There is no registration of any firearm, and many do not bother with waiting periods or background checks.

Actually, waiting periods is a federal requirement. Under the Brady Bill the Congress also made background checks mandatory, but the Supreme Court held that to be unconstitutional in 1997, leaving the matter entirely up to the States whether or not to perform background checks.
The simple solution, of course, is to not buy firearms from a dealer.
