And since you're such a fan of the 5th assessment, read the whole thing. Don't just cherrypick!

How old is your computer and will you refuse to upgrade it in a couple of years? How about your cell phone? How about any other number of technologies?

Did you see any major environment groups call for a boycott of people buying the new iPhones while people camped out for days to get them? Any idea as to the amount of environment damage that is done to produce all of those new phones? Did you see the press bring it up?

President Obama claims to believe that AGW is a problem, yet he flies an armada of massive aircraft practically half way around the world each year for the sole purpose of going to that beach in Hawaii he likes. Anybody make any comments about that?

The point is that nobody is going to do anything of substance to fight this issue. I could audit your life and point to all sorts of things your could do to make an impact, but I doubt you'd do anything about it.

Think about the latest climate summit. People from around the world jumped on to airplanes to fly across the globe instead of utilizing technology that works great (video conferencing) and reduce emissions. The people who are supposed to be working on the problem didn't take a very basic step to help because they essentially wanted to go to a nice hotel and get wined and dined and be important.

The AGW crowd is essentially a little dog yapping away at the reflection it sees in the mirror. It's accomplishing nothing but the noise it generates while thinking it's accomplishing something.

The best part was the climate march where the greens littered their styrofoam cups and other garbage all over NYC because after all, "walking the walk" is for other people.
Just please stop with that tired logic.....Nothing but strawman and the like. Voiceofreazon.... how about you actually live up to your name.

President Obama's fleet that he travels in merely a drop in the ocean in terms of daily energy use. Just because you believe in AGW doesn't mean you have to go live in a cave or you don't like being wined and dined or essentially give up a modern lifestyle. That song and dance gets old and only makes you look foolish.

Any real success will come from legislation not just domestically but internationally, which is hard to come by.... Mainly because people like y'all are duped into believing using our resources better will bankrupt us despite the billions of people globally stepping into a 21st century lifestyle....

I distinctively remember you saying you were part of this theory in a thread not too long ago.

Volcanoes cool the planet by blasting the ash into the stratosphere - show me a coal powered plant that can do the same.

Along with SOX and NOX, much like a volcano.

Sulphur from Chinese power stations 'masking' climate change
Quote:
The huge increase in coal-fired power stations in China has masked the impact of global warming in the last decade because of the cooling effect of their sulphur emissions, new research has revealed. But scientists warn that rapid warming is likely to resume when the short-lived sulphur pollution – which also causes acid rain – is cleaned up and the full heating effect of long-lived carbon dioxide is felt...

...Prof Joanna Haigh, at Imperial College London, commented: "The researchers are making the important point that the warming due to the CO2 released by Chinese industrialisation has been partially masked by cooling due to reflection of solar radiation by sulphur emissions. On longer timescales, with cleaner emissions, the warming effect will be more marked."...

...The cooling effect of sulphur pollution on climate has long been recognised by scientists studying volcanic eruptions, which have, for example, caused failed crops and famines in the past. Sulphur dioxide forms droplets of sulphuric acid in the stratosphere, which increases the reflection of the Sun's heat back to space, cooling the Earth's surface...
Here's the original study the article is based on

EUREKA!!! You have found the solution to global warming! Build more coal fired power plants!

But seriously, sulfates are too short lived to alter global climate unless they too are blasted into the stratosphere.

You didn't read the article.... Yes SOX is short lived. China and other developing countries are adding scrubbers and other pollution control devices/systems to their coal power plants as the air pollution has gotten most severe there. The SOX and particulate matter are just masking/buffering the effects, which has begun to change direction as the costs of short term air pollution are too expensive to bear and coal is cleaned up and/or it's usage will plateau globally.

So the Global Mean Surface Temperature is meaningless as an indicator of global warming? Why is it measured then?

Why does NASA also acknowledge the pause?
"according to a new NASA study, leaving unsolved the mystery of why global warming appears to have slowed in recent years."

No it doesn't. It makes YOU look foolish. The president and others raising the alarmism are saying we need to make some hard choices and that we are the last generation that can make a difference. Meanwhile, they live as if nothing has changed. At least Carter wore a sweater in the White House, Obama won't even make a token gesture that he gives a damn or he gets it, other than making speeches.

I'm not suggesting that the POTUS's carbon footprint is going to tip the scales but he and the other AGW mouthpieces SHOULD LIVE BY EXAMPLE or at least tilt slightly in that direction instead of lecturing the rest of us while they have no inclination of inconveniencing themselves in the slightest.

I'm tired of the rank hypocrisy. The "do as I a say, not as I do" nonsense of the left and of the green movement.
