Unfortunately Wilson was telling the truth. And Michael Brown RIP was a committed and dangerous man bent on destruction of others and himself. I see Obama being pulled back from the edge hopefully Holder will follow. I see white people who advise him not to go after Wilson as the GJ IS the lowest standard and even that could not be met. There are just to many forensics on the side of Wilson's report, consistent and true. These wiser people know that if Holder & Co. go after him it will overplay their hand they will appear fascist to the larger majority of people in the country. The reality that they are black 1st and citizens 2nd is already exposed. To go further would be a disaster for Wilson but mostly for the country...and they know it.
So the Browns and those close to them will be done. All used up. Sharpton, Jackson and the minions will leave and they will still not have their son, they will be lost in the experience the sharp rise to fame and the fall when people walk out on them. THAT is the black experience. Thousands of fatherless children, not all, but many yearn for connections and find little there and they grow into bullies and thugs. Once full of promise, orphaned by all to many who did not show them the way.
And they are given the porridge that it's the white man's fault to substitute for the strength and love that they all needed. A culture in crisis throwing itself against the walls of society demanding more....and when they get it, they get the more they throw it away, all the time trying to fill the hole left inside them. I fear for these men, and women, lost in the hatred of forces that they don't even know exist in their lives.
The officers account of events and several witness statements are supported by the physical evidence. The statements that were not supported by the physical evidence were disregarded just like any investigation.
I do wonder how people square this with their prejudices.
There was no political will by the DA to indict, the grand jury was a softball. If the DA truly had the conviction that Wilson was guilty he would have gone after him and taken a more aggressive approach, this amounts to checking the box.
But that's just it, they didn't have anything to go aggressively after. When you look at the totality of the circumstances, which include the science, the witness testimony and the "play by play" details of Wilson's account, then there really isn't anything to argue and go aggressively after.
Wilson, in all likelyhood, was telling the truth. It's a bitter pill for many to swallow given how much they have emotionally invested into this.
You don't "buy" any of it.
You believe Brown's partner in crime.

But the "perp" involved in the strong armed robbery, is a "young black male" (i.e. a victim of society) says he had his "hands up" and thus the city burns and now the "system" needs to be changed

The guy that said brown put his Hands up was his partner in crime at the cigar store. Also he said brown never reached into the cop car. Since that was an obvious lie according to physical evidence, Im sure his testimony was disregarded completely, including the hands up part.
