Do you realize (apparently not) that this is settled law? Your definition of a militia legally wrong.

You don't know what an assault rifle is.

You probably also don't know that semi-automatic weapons with military features were banned for ten years and there was no change in the homicide rate.

How in Allah's name can the federal government allow people to have guns sent to their homes withoutso much as a background check, or even a face to face contact between buyer and seller?

Everybody, from the most determined Mother who demands action, to the 50 gun arsenal owning... "enthusiast" for lack of a more polite term... should agree that this is a horrible idea.

bluejukes is right. you can buy the gun online, but you have to pick it up from a properly licensed gun dealer, which means that you still have to pass the background check before you can claim possession of the firearm. why not try looking at the laws before you complain about something of which you have no knowledge.

Any semi-automatic firearm, including widely available handguns, can hold a magazine with 15 cartridges and can empty the cartridge in 30 seconds. The death toll in CT would have been no different if Lanza used his Glock handgun instead of his AR-15.

BTW - FFL = Federal Firearms License. A person with a FFL is known to the ATF. Among other things, a FFL dealer must keep records of all firearms transactions.

By the way, but didn't Lee Harvey Oswald buy the gun he used to kill President Kennedy through a mail order ad and have it sent to a rented P.O. box?

I know that was a long time ago and there was no internet in those days.
At the time LHO could have walked into any SKliens dept store and bought a 6.5 carcano for about 18 dollars. Just needed to be over 18 yrs old.

The buyer has to go to the FFL and now all gun shops run your driver license thru a NICS check to see if you have been arrested, convicted , etc since your were last clreared to get your firearm id, as in NJ. So despte releasing your nedical records, having fingerp[rints run thru the FBI, as in Nj, you also get a NICS check....then you can pick up your long arm.

A pistol purchased out of state by a NJ resident has to be sent to an FFL in NJ who has to see your firearm id, your limited time permit to purchase a pistol where you again provide references, release your medical recods and fingerprints redundantly checked again....and then they run a NICS check!

Inherit a pistol in a PA will and you legally own that gun. However, if in the possession of a auction house who provides estimates of estates, you need to fill out forms in PA rpovide an Name and number of an FFL in NJ who has to contact the FFL in PA, gun is sent from FFL to FFL. No way you are getting that gun you legally own until you generate a permit to puchase and all that entails. Usually weeks or months depending on the municipality.

The correct answer is 323 compared to about 6220 in 2011.

FBI — Expanded Homicide Data Table 8

Seems like a pretty relevant stat. I think your fear is misdirected.

Fewer assault weapon used in crime now than when the assault weapons ban was in effect.

Wrong.
The ban was meaningless.
Most banning features were cosmetic anyway.

They ALWAYS take a headline and run with it.

Oh crap! The "one life" thingy.
OK, we can save thousands of lives if
we go back to the 55 MPH speed limit.
Are ya in?
