The GOP likes to claim the Keystone Pipeline is a jobs bill, but on Tuesday they voted down an amendment that would actually provide American jobs. The amendment would require that only U.S. produced iron, steel and manufactured goods to be used for the pipeline construction, connection, operation and maintenance. The amendment failed on a 53-46 vote. Every Republican in the Senate except North Carolina Senator Richard Burr voted against it.
They shot this down to help keep costs in line. You and your union knuckleheads would jack it up if it were a closed market to help offset all their continued bad decisions regarding unions. This keeps them honest.
This does NOT mean they won't source the US but, if there is a more competitive product available at, or above in quality, why wouldn't they keep the costs down? That HELPS everyone. Once again, the Democrats fail to understand that business isn't in the business of keeping employees alive, it's in the business of being competitive on a global scale.
Not in business to "make yo day go bedduh".....capiche?

So much for an American jobs bill.
Would you also be in favor of a bill that would only allow people on any government assistance to only buy products made in the US?
If our tax dollars are being used, shouldn't people using our tax dollars go towards jobs that will benefit them?
What would you bet that if such a bill were to be proposed, every Democrat would vote against it?
I'd love for the people on government assistance not to be spending money on things like TV's, iPhones, PSP's, etc while I'm supplying money for their needs.
The article the OP is referring to was in the Daily KOS. And the reason (If you read the article) that the Reps. voted NO was because of 2 Dem. amendments to the bill requiring that any of the oil shipped through the pipeline NOT BE EXPORTED and since this was not acceptable to the Reps., Al Franken -D added that the pipe MUST be made with American steel. Knowing that the bill wouldn't pass because of the "No export" clause, he added that to make it look like the Rep. were against using American products. So like the Dems to make false statements when things don't go their way. Of course the media sucks it all up and reprints it.
Also this oil needs to stay in the US. If we're building the pipeline and doing all the work and taking all the risk, why should China get it? They are already crushing us on infrastructure and education and manufacturing.
HAHAHAHA, cons just slay me. Whine about the pipeline & how many jobs would be lost w/out it & then outsource jobs for a cheaper product. You seriously can't make this up. Do cons have brains, at all?

They're not OUR COSTS.
Canadian company using eminent domain on US soil for exporting tar sands to Asia.
Most toddlers recognize a bad deal when they see it. Obviously not that bright to get gaga over this hot mess.
Sorry - not in the business of making your day go better either. Capisce?
