This is the kind of posturing that so many Democrats, Independents, and even moderate Republicans have complained about with regard to the GOP house.
Now the shoe is on the other foot. Hey, how about a DNC rule that all campaign buttons in 2016 will be made in America, from American steel? Oops can't do that. The Chinese make all of our buttons now.

This does NOT mean they won't source the US but, if there is a more competitive product available at, or above in quality, why wouldn't they keep the costs down? That HELPS everyone. Once again, the Democrats fail to understand that business isn't in the business of keeping employees alive, it's in the business of being competitive on a global scale.
Not in business to "make yo day go bedduh".....capiche?
IF Congress really gave a crap about costs they'd let Medicare negotiate prescription drug prices. Funny how the anti-union crowd has no problem with letting BigPharma jack up its prices. I guess we know who owns Congress, eh?
Obviously you are a liberal Democrat who is against the pipeline anyway so what's the big deal?
I was thinking the same thing. How can you possibly take seriously a partisan Democrat hack trying to complain about the Republicans not mandating the steel for a pipeline come from a certain place, when the Democrats opposed the entire project? He supports the party that opposed getting any jobs at all out of the project, but now wants to demonize Republicans for opposing a mandate that might cost some jobs in one particular area of the project.

The people who raising cain do not understand Construction and how the process unfolds. Its about staying in budget and all material goes out for bid.
For literally years we have been hearing "Drill, Baby, Drill!" as a proposal to make the United States independent of foreign oil. We also have heard complaints that there are not enough jobs, and one of the projects that has been touted to fix both of these is the Keystone Pipeline.
Why then, when faced with the opportunity to deal with both situations at once, would any elected so-called "representative" vote to sell the oil to foreign countries and against using American-made steel for the pipeline, which would create even more jobs? I am completely dumbfounded.
I worked in the steel industry and manufacturing for over 30 years. To buy any other product than domestic steel for a government job is patently unamerican, and I'll stand on John Boehner's and Mitch Mcconnell's desks and spit in their eyes and tell them that. Bastards.
BTW - You can get Chinese steel cheaply, but it will cost you more to do the NDT looking for inclusions and lamination than the steel cost to start with. unless, of course, you really don't give a tinker's damn about the pipe wall failing when put in service and dumping the oil on the ground.
We have been exporting the majority of the oil we've produced from fracking since the beginning, something I've never understood. If only there was some way to get Congress out of our lives, we'd all be better off.

Where did you read this? We have had a ban on exporting our own oil since 1975.
