Black on black crime being ignored is the real tragedy.
Most black on black crimes the person is caught. Its extremely rare you here of a black on black crime, they know who did it, and just let them walk free.
A cop can kill you and just say I felt scared and be let off the hook, compared to a civilian needing videos, 10 witnesses, and a Johny Cochran type lawyer to get off.
Black on black crime is not ignored. Black folks that have to live around it are sick of it, but its not much they can do at times.

I'm a hispanic white male, though without knowing my last name you would be hard-pressed to know I was hispanic, and I have been in this exact same situation many times with men of all races, even a few women. The significant mistake the writer is making here is assuming that this time of anger and demand for subservience stems out of race (people who criticize black on black crime often make the same mistake).
This is a culture built on dominance, backed with violence and weapons, where you assert your worth by forcing others to acquiesce to your angry demands. We shout at service industry workers, berate government employees, lambaste underlings, and even cow strangers in public with anger and violence.
Black on black crime being ignored is the real tragedy.
Dark skinned people aren't ignoring it, but let's be real here, this is something conservative light skinned people say to take attention away from other issues involving them.

Probably because Dorian Johnson was proven to be completely full of Neither local nor federal investigators felt he was being truthful, the forensics completely opposed several of his claims and he changed his story several times.

All I know is this, if it's against the law? I don't do it. If a smarta## policeman tells me to do something? I do it. He has the right to tell me to get on the ground if he suspects there is a chance I might shoot him. So anyway, I would get on the ground because I'm not out to be a big shot TRYING TO GET RESPECT. I am thankful somebody is out there trying to STOP all of these BIG SHOTS from robbing, raping or killing my family.
If it bothers you so much? Why not put black policemen in black neighborhoods and white in white neighborhoods and a lot of the RESPECT problem would be within each race. Or join the police force yourself and see how you do. Start your career on the south side of Chicago.

That's 8,670 convictions for murder or non-negligent homicide against 17,030 homicides.
That is barely a 50% conviction rate for the whole population.
And we have to go with the assumption of identical murder rates for each race, because there are no stats kept by the BJS on conviction rates by race. But the murder rate for black adults as both victims and offenders are much higher for Blacks, and especially black males, as detailed in the second link (but the conviction rate per 100,000 adults could be higher too).
Either way, it is pretty common for murderers to "walk free".
