If your house is 300 miles of open ocean, then yes, it is torture to live in a tank barely big enough to turn around in. Try living in your smallest closet for a month and then come out and tell us all about how great it is.
its easy for hipsters to smoke a little hemp, hug a few trees, and get all self righteous and preachy when it does NOT affect their pocket books...
billions of dollars in revenue come in due to aquariums, zoos, sea world type parks...lots of jobs..these places hire trained experts who genuinely love the animals and work hard to take care of them...
there is NO moral absolutes...what about all the germs and bacteria we kill every day with every breath we take...get a clue green peeps
Aquariums and zoos are more about conservation and less about profit and many are non-profits. Sea World is not. Out of a $75.00 ticket .05 of it goes to conservation efforts. The people who work with the whale are not biologists or behaviorists they're performers. Orcas are far too large an animal to keep in captivity and the only reason there is a push back is $.
We're not talking about domesticated animals raised for food. I do believe food animal should be raised in as humane conditions as possible but I know there are real world consequences for that. Mainly less affordable food. I'm talking about cruelty to animals for entertainment and profit. Can you really not see the difference?
Sure and I've already noted it. Entertainment = bad. As a meal = good.

Zoo's keep Manatee's in much smaller enclosures. Yep they aren't as big but their pools are a tiny fraction of what they are used to.
