I swear this thread reminds me of the weekly 2nd amendment threads we have here.

"Guns are evil".
"No they're Not. It's the individuals who misuse those guns who are evil."
"We should restrict ownership and ban guns."
"The 2nd Amendment of the constitution expressly forbids such action."

"Islam is evil."
No it's not. It's the people who use Islam for their own agenda that are evil."
"We should ban all people of Islamic faith."
"The First Amendment of the Constitution expressly forbids the banning of people due to their religious beliefs."

It's funny how the right wing can instantly pivot 180 degrees in their support of the constitution if it suits their agenda.

And here in lies the problem...Some people in the general public rely on cable news and other outlets whom will feed them this lie that none of the Islamic scholarship have spoken out against violent extremism. They take it at face value, when in reality there has been an immense backlash against violence against civilians from the Muslim community. Here are the links...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gGYVsbRvDQ - Yasir Qadhi

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJo4B-yaxfk - Hamza Yusuf

https://www.facebook.com/imamomarsul...19108761442500 - Omar Suleiman

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eVgw2LjONs - Mufti Menk (Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe)

Terrorism - Salih Fawzaan (Saudi Arabia, one of the most conservative clerics in the world)

I found these within about 2 minutes of searching. The overwhelming response from trained scholars is anti-terrorism and anti-violence against civilians. People like OBL are self-trained cherry pickers whom have strong *political* goals and aspirations. They are willing and able to use religion as a guise for their want of *political* power. They are a brand that needs to be crushed and they are the worst enemies to my religion than any other group or nation.

And hey if you're really curious, go to your local mosque and attend a lecture or two. Ask the Imam and community members about Jihad, what that is and what the community thinks about America and living in the West. There's no secrets, no hidden mission, no winking of approval when it comes to killing civilians/non-combatants. We're 100% against that and always will be.

In all frankness and with no sense of sarcasm, given that Muslims are in the billions throughout the world, it would be fair to expect louder and a far greater number of opponents to the ensuing atrocities.

But thank you both for responding to my question, but more so, for asserting my supposition.

Nearly every reputable Islamic Scholar wrote/signed an open letter to the leader of ISIS condemning the actions of his group and asking him to cease atrocities...Letter to Baghdadi - Open Letter to BaghdadiOpen Letter to Baghdadi

I don't know what more you could want? They literally represent Muslims the world over...it's the equivalent of every Catholic Bishop in the world writing a letter to the IRA... I don't know what more you could ask from the Catholic leadership after that.

In many cases, Actions speak louder than words.

Who, exactly, is actually in the ME, killing all these radical Muslims by the score?
Who is actually standing up to them and going toe to toe with fixed bayonets?

Why, other Muslims, of course.

Whereas, America is killing them from 10 thousand feet with a Hellfire missile, fired from a drone, controlled from a Quonset Hut, in Yuma Arizona.
So what if we kill the perp, his whole family and the neighbors next door? We just made 10 more recruits for ISIS who would love to come to America and kill our Families and next door neighbors.

And visa versa, but that is a weak argument.

In BOTH cases its the one who is enacting the violence fault. No one else.

Did Christians take out ads to condemn Eric Rudolph? Should they be responsible for apologizing for something that they had nothing to do with?

No. There is no such thing as collective guilt. If you are not guilty you have no reason to apologize.

That's sounds like what the Christians did to the Native Americans.

Exactly. It's not the gun's fault nor is it the Religion of Islam's fault.
It is always the people who use those implements or medium for their own misdeeds.

Hard to believe you went there, you make this too easy. ISIS consists of some 30,000 radicals. Iraq alone, not even counting the rest of the Islamic nations of the ME, has more than 30,000,000 people. In Iraq alone that is 1000 people for every ISIS member. 1000:1 odds. Sure, there are some Muslims fighting ISIS, but obviously a tiny, tiny portion, or ISIS would cease to exist. For every moderate Muslim fighting ISIS....what are the other 999 doing?

Honestly though, I DON'T CARE. As long as no American servicemen are put into a position where their lives are lost fighting to protect the people of the ME, it doesn't make any difference.
