I tell you what, why don't we extend Medicare to cover the entire nation?

My wife and I are over 65 and we both have medicare which is absolutely marvelous and I think we should extend it to everyone equally, right?

For those who think Medicare is free you're in for a real shocker.

A newly wed couple both 25 years old should have exactly what we have.

Him Her
$104.90 $104.90 = $209.80 Part B
$165,00 $165.00 = $330.00 Supplement
$ 28.00 $ 28.00 = $56.00 Pharmacy
$ 60.00 $ 60.00 = Dental (this would be voluntary
$357.90 $715.80 = Total Monthly Premium Payment for young couple

Of course you could whittle that down considerably to $595.80 if you do without dental but if you get a toothache it's all on you!

That is what my wife and I pay for our free Medicare every month. On top of this we continue to have Medicare Tax to pay for the system but and why not since I've been paying Medicare tax for near 50 years?

We could have the best system in the world but I would only like this if EVERYONE paid just like I am forced to pay you can as well. It's called your fair share and you should pay your fair share.

When I do collect social security my wife and I still have to come up with the $715.80 so why shouldn't you? Are you special or something? Think because your an artist you should get a freebee or something?
No problem I say lets go with this system By the way you could go without the supplemental coverage if you were poor.

Sanders advocates for single-payer health-care system on Medicare anniversary - The Washington Post

I like his response to pundits who say it has no chance of ever passing: “All of the pundits always tell us what we cannot accomplish until the day after we accomplish it.”

Sanders continues to hit the issues that affect and concern middle class Americans the most.
Yepperz, when government run programs waste money, fail to serve the people, and are about to go bankrupt, the answer from liberal dems is always the same, LET'S EXPAND GOVERNMENT EVEN MORE!!!!

that is because the only ones who give a flying **** about controlling our irresponsible and wasteful government are Conservatives. The partisan Republicans and Democrat squeal like stuck pigs if anyone dares talk about a responsible government, and bring an end to their gravy train. That is why they hate the TEA party, they want to rein in out of control spending and the crony corporatism in Washington.

I thought for a time that the Occupy Wall Street movement might join the TEA party movement in trying to end crony capitalism in our government, but they are just fine with it as long as a Democrat is doing it.

So we have debt, on top of debt, and idiots running for president proposing new and inventive ways to go even deeper into debt. And the useful idiots going right along with the corruption in Washington, because it's their political party looting the US Treasury.

The VA might be poorly run, but the postal service, our highway system, Medicare, and Amtrak(when we consider their shoe string budget of less than 2 billion) are well run. I don't think the government is good at everything.

But Medicare is not as wasteful as private insurance companies and serves more people. It is an example of a successful federal program.

Thanks for the link, chad. It is a sad, sad situation. But I am optimistic. There is nothing we can not achieve if we organize and stand together.

If the healthcare in the US is so good then why isn't the US number one in healthcare? Instead the US ranks a pathetic 37th.

The main reason for bankruptcy in the US is medical bills.
