No, I hope I don't need that much firepower, but it is there if I need it. It doesn't mean that I'm going to go out and shoot up something or some people. This is your problem, you group all people that have fire arms into one classification "gun nuts". You would rather sacrifice everyone's liberty for your safety, I'm sorry I just don't agree with your mindset.

But, when a person that is highly embedded into the gun culture goes crazy there is a good chance he or she will use the guns.

Lastly, there are many guns out there, roughly there is one gun for every single person living in the USA. So it is not that hard to get one because they are abundant.

Yes, I agree, however, banning all firearms is not the answer, no more than banning all automobiles because some nut job decides to run down a bunch of people.
So in your logic, if a person gets into a car drunk and kills a family of 5, then we should ban alcohol, because alcohol is part of his culture. You tell me, is a person that drinks more likely to drive drunk than a person who doesn't drink. This is your logic and it is really flawed.

Again, this is true, and this is why banning firearms will not work, you can not put the genie back in the bottle. There are over 300 million firearms in the United States, now if gun owners are as crazy as your type implies, hell, we should see at least a million deaths a year due to firearms. There are about 32,000 people killed in 2010 by firearms and 20,000 of those were self inflicted.
Out of all the deaths in the United States in 2009, all 2,436,682 of them, there were 16,000 homicides, which some may or may not have used guns. This ranks 15th as the cause of deaths, now if you really want to jump on a band wagon to help save lives, think about champion one of the 14 causes of death that are far more frequent than firearms.
I will add this for you to think about, in the United States, there are 30 people killed every day by drunk drivers, that about 11,000 a year, I think it is time we ban automobiles. Well, at least those that can go over 15 miles and hour.

All other countries in the world have folks with psych problems, but they do not have the mass shootings. The only difference is that these countries do not have a gun culture.
All automatic weapons should be banned. The only legal firearms should be non-automatic. Any automatic forearm should be immediately impounded by the government.

How many folks have shot trying to rob your house? I know folks that are cops and don't get to fire their weapon against a criminal in 20 years. Your excuse is phony!
I just want to point out, you've got your terminology wrong. If you are not home and a person or persons break in and take stuff, this is a burglary, you've been burglarized, not robbed. If someone breaks in and you are home and the subject continues with the act, this is a robbery / home invasion.
There should be a total ban on guns. The only people who should be authorized to have them, are law enforcement. All the gun nuts need to be stripped of their weapons, and immediately sent to a mental health professional to try to rid them of their severe affliction.
Law enforcement commits 12% +/- of all gun homicides in any given year. If every gun was removed from this country why would they need them? Are you admitting that gun confiscation wouldn't work?
