...to prevent these shootings?"

It's a reasonable question in my opinion. But what law, what level of control will stop the shootings?

and therein lies the problem. everyone clamors for more gun control, and the first thing they start with is ban "assault weapons" and high capacity magazines, neither of which will do anything to stop these mass shootings.

until we get to the root cause of the violent tendencies, we will never stop these types of events.

but lets say that we eliminate guns from the picture completely, with a chemistry book i can create either a large enough explosive, or i can create a large enough chemical weapon to kill large numbers of people and in short period of time, and i can do it with innocuous chemicals and other items that wouldnt raise any red flags anywhere. so then what do we do, start banning the innocuous chemicals?

In regards to Huckabee... even a blind squirrel finds a nut. We already have laws! Figure out how to enforce the ones in place, and stop making more useless laws that do nothing to solve the issue!

Default Huck is clueless.

There should be a total ban on guns. The only people who should be authorized to have them, are law enforcement. All the gun nuts need to be stripped of their weapons, and immediately sent to a mental health professional to try to rid them of their severe affliction.

Huckabee is laughable as a presidential candidate because he always takes the wrong positions, and what he represents on this subject, is repulsive to the well-being of this country...obviously.

You are openly advocating for violating the U.S. Constitution, specifically the 2nd Amendment.

You don't care about the Constitution, you are tribal. To you everything the Democrats do is good by definition, while everything the GOP does is bad. It is a childish view of politics when it is much more complicated and nuanced than that.

There should be a ban on those in this country (meaning get the hell out) who seek to restrict the rights of many others who have committed no crime, or have caused no harm to others, because of the few who have! Your idea would lead to more violence against regular citizens by the criminal types and the government way more than what you have now. Oh, the irony that cops should only have guns! So, next time a cop does society a favor and shoots a thug with a rap sheet a mile long because he CAN'T STOP BREAKING THE LAW, you're not going to b*** and moan, and cry racism, and blame conservatives, right?

what percentage of legal gun owners commit crimes? I see more than ever the need for guns in law abiding citizens hands.
Perhaps we should ban ritalin, psychotropic drugs, lazy parents, single parethood,tv violence etc

Hopefully you are being cynical here. If not, can you please explain how we would remove the 300 million+ guns out there, and furthermore, how would you get criminals to give up their guns, and even further, how would you prevent acquisition of guns via the black market?

No, Nexus is dead serious. IMHO: He's proven to be the most outrageous poster in the forums, which I believe was his intention.
