When is it worth it to stand up to leftist extremists?
When you've got a lot of free time on your hands, are in a mindset to handle a heavy amount of ignorance, yet also sober enough to recognize when (inevitably) the argument isn't worth continuing and just walk away.
You may be right but at this point in time people are not losing their jobs and careers over saying things publicly that offend conservatives.
Says who ?
People are losing family and friends over speaking their Political opinions.
The Civil War NEVER ended ! Only the opposing armies stopped killing each other. Other than that, it's alive and well. Just look at this thread and others around unmoderated message boards and Youtube comments.

Much MORE than the Right extremist ?
WHO is committing all the mass shootings in this country ?
Who killed (9) Black people inside a church ?
Please explain the difference(s) between Right and Left extremist for us.
I'd have to say, it depends. Having a rational discussion expecting to appeal to a liberal's reason and rationality is like trying to explain quantum mechanics to a pig. They don't have the intellectual capacity to absorb complex thoughts and ideas. You'll waste your time and annoy the pig.
That's exactly what is said by the other side. To the T.
A "free thinking" person is not limited to/ bound by left or right orthodoxy.
