Considering that 80% of the media is anti-Trump, I am surprised his approval rating is not in the 30s or 20s.

Is half of his disapproval rate.

Trump's ratings aren't lower because 30% of the country is hopeless. Its the mentality that almost put Roy Moore, a child molester, in the Senate. There is asegment of this country that is so hopelessly brainwashed they believe supporting a child molester is better than supporting any democrat. These are the folks that believe all the BS about the "deep state" and get their news from conspiracy websites like Alex Jones. You just have to accept they aren't rational people and build a governing coalition without them.

It seems significant that Trump is not polling well among independents.

Many independents are former Republicans or former Democrats and some others are confused about politics or turned off by it. This is a very mercurial bunch, yet persuadable. This is where elections can be won or lost, in the margins. Independents are not leaning toward Trump and the Republican party is too small to carry on without them.

What are approval "rates"? Is that like the price ranges when paying for an approval?

approval: 42.2%

disapproval: 54.1%

"disapproval: 54.1%"

The FACT taht they polled MORE dems and ind then repubs AND PURPOSELY TOOK THE YOUNGEST PEOPLE IN THe HOUSE. is the reason for the "results".

What do you think the results would be IF they polled MORE repubs then dems and ind?

That's because he will continue to do irreparable damage to the Republican Party and further splinter traditional conservatives away from neo-fascists. That will leave the Right in disarray for many many years, if not decades. Plus, we'd be left with Pence as President, and in some ways he could be worse than Trump.
Trump is a criminal. Politically the Democrats may be better off letting him stand there for all the world to see as the disgusting quisling he is, but is it right? Is it proper to allow a traitor to remain in office?

Abscesses are lanced for a reason.

What was the final breakdown of each age group and political affiliation?
Were the data weighted?

Would it be legitimate to poll more Republicans if there aren’t more voting Republicans in the overall U.S. population?

How do you think polls should be conducted?
What would you use for your sample criteria if you wanted a representative sample?

Inquiring minds want to know.
