Abortion, regardless of the method, is pretty horrid.

I am not suggesting do-it-yourself. I am suggesting pay-for-it-yourself.

They already get education in school. If that hasn't worked blame the schools. Clinics aren't needed for that. Never have been.

And if they can't get off their duff and make a trip to Walmart to spend 6 bucks on contraceptives then whose fault is that?

You are making the assumption that every woman seeking an abortion was not using any contraception. The truth is that half of them were using contraception in the cycle in which they conceived. Contraceptives do not always work, and a considerable contingent of the people who are against abortion also want to classify some of the most effective contraceptives, such as the IUD, as abortifacients. They do not want those to be used either.

Prescription contraceptives require an office visit to see someone to write that prescription. By making it harder for people to get to see someone for that prescription, in the end the abortion rate goes up.

Most contraceptives are well over 90% effective. Face it, most pregnancies have nothing to do with failed contraceptives.

There's always an excuse... "I can't afford contraceptives"... then someone points out how inexpensive they are so now the goal post gets moved... "But they aren't 100% effective."....

You want an abortion? Have at it. But YOU pay for it.

Education? I agree. But lets not pretend that young people DON'T know that sex can create babies... it isn't rocket surgery.

The root of this issue is personal responsibility.
Oh for goodness' sake don't be so friggin narrow. Women get pregnant. Not just young people. If you don't think that there are legislators backing this baloney that have found their 51/52 year old responsible, mature, educated wives pregnant and have gotten an abortion on the very hush hush then you don't know much about human beings.

It can happen to anyone, not just young people, or people with no "personal responsibility".

No many of these poor people do not get an education. We have one of the highest unwanted pregnancy rates of any civilized nation in the world, making it more difficult for women isn't a solution.

I hoped that the goal of increased contraception and education to reduce abortions and single parent families would be common ground, evidently I was wrong.
