Our POTUS does claim "African American" even tho is dad was a Black Kenyan and his mom was an anglo white American owman.
Packard you should know by now that your race is determined by how you look, not what your DNA says. If Obama identified as white, he'd get laughed out of the country by both whites and blacks. I'm 4% Sub-Saharan. Does that make me black? Hell no, and no black person would ever accept me as black.
NO...and do get some exposure. Not everyone of African heritage is an African-American.
There are African-Americans, Afro-Caribbeans, Afro-Latinos etc in the U.S.
I am of African descent. I am NOT African-American.
Common sense indeed.

Reine disagrees there and, she's a "Black" lady. So you to tell her that she's wrong.

What one person says doesn't matter. Most of society sees Obama as an African-American only, end of story. America still hasn't gotten around the idea that mixed race people exist. Look all the BS that Elizabeth Warren gets for being 1/32 Native American or whatever. That's like me saying I'm Japanese even though I'm only 1/25 Japanese
Nothing better than white people saying to a minority, "Hey, I don't see how that's offensive. . . . to you."
Mick
Somehow it's persecution and oppression of white males for shaming people to use these kinds of offensive words. I don't use any kind of racially specific slurs, even towards whites, because I'm not in the business of trying to offend others. Nobody would dare say something rude or nasty about someone in a wheelchair, why should it be ok to point out somebody's race in a negative way?
