See this is a start Kudos to ATL now let's see if he will be charged. A badge is not a license to kill. Officer must have forgotten what city he is in.
I know, I know, should be able to just run up and shoot people to death with no warning or even time to know who is what and what is who. He stopped a car from being stolen, but who wants it now with bullet holes in it and blood all over the upholstery. Its going to be a write off. What a waste. All lives matter!

What? Using deadly force to protect property is legal in many states.

Not necessarily true. You can shoot someone breaking into your house however if you scare them and they are running away, you cannot shoot them in the back. He was fired...great however I do think he needs to be charged with something. This is the basis for what the protests are about. Someone is dead because of a Police officer's gross negligence. Simply being fired is not an appropriate level of punishment.

I never used legal terminology in my post. Just because a thing is legal does not make it the right thing to do. Especially in cities like Atlanta, laws were crafted to allow practices that time has shown to be... wrong. They are still on the books but most people know better. Most people.

In Texas if you have reasonable belief your property or your neighbors property will not be returned you can shoot. That's the extreme end of it. This is from Texas, Mr. Horn was never prosecuted.
In other states with the Castle Doctrine if someone is in your house it's very difficult to prosecute the homeowner no matter what the circumstances, that's the intention. Law enforcement or a prosecutor cannot second guess your actions, you the victim of crime are given the benefit of the doubt. An example of where this is not going to apply is the guy that baited that kid with the purse in his garage, you will need extraordinary circumstances like that to be prosecuted.
