Excellent post. Balkanization is the end result of diversity and multiculturalism. A functional country has to have cohesion to survive. Most countries are a nation-state; in other words a state that is based on a nation (think French, Japanese or Chinese). Other countries are held together by a very dominant religion.

The US was founded with neither of these things. The cohesion that the US used to possess was a common idea of what it means to be an American. People from various backgrounds wanted to be "American" whether they were German, Jewish or whatever. We don't have that anymore. Instead, we have push for diversity/multiculturalism whose primary goal is to suppress whatever dominant or majority cultural characteristics exist. Now that these majority/dominant cultural characteristics have been weakened, these is almost nothing that unifies left/right, urban/rural, etc. As is made evident every single day on this board, Americans can't even agree on core American values anymore.

The only way I see that the country could be kept whole in the long-term would be to return most power to the states. However, this is extremely unlikely as virtually no Democrat and very few Republicans would allow this to happen. Instead, its more likely the political and cultural rancor will continue to grow until the balkanization is complete and regions start breaking away from the so-called "United" States.

I hope NOT! Too; many states like Calif and Illinois would split up even further leaving the "blue areas" small islands far apart from each other surrounded by a "red sea".

It won't work. Would have to section geographically and ethnically.

CA is the sixth largest economy in the world, with a huge industrial military techology base. Though it's been fully infiltrated by mexicans, who will align it with mexico. CA is a nuclear power.

Next door is AZ and NV with almost no resources but old people. NV has a little military, AZ very slim.

Same, TX is a powerhouse, surrounded by taker states.

There is no way to divide without massive war and refugee migration.

I found this interesting graphic that shows the GDP of blue states vs red states. The Size of the Red and Blue Economies

Could we actually be in a martial law situation?
Nothing like this will happen.

95% of America isn't affected despite the Hyperbole.

COPs will simply defacto refuse to provide law enforcement to Black neighborhoods. Thugs will go back to shooting each other and others in these places without restriction. BLM and other Thug apologists will quickly disappear. Problem fixes itself.

IMHO if things went down being talked about in this thread; Calif would probably break apart 1st and; MOST of that state would join up with Arizona and Nv. Northern Calif well above the SF Bay Area would probably join Oregon and Wash for different reasons.

How did the actions of 2 black men become representative of "black people"? I think things will just get worse in this country and it not due to race, but from the fact that mass killings now seems the means to express ones grievances. Here in America we have been plagued by mass killings and shooting the last 25 years. Around the world you are seeing similar acts where individuals, usually terrorist, kills people in mass. When people become obsessed by a cause to the degree that they do not care about their lives anymore....how do you combat that? Every grievance people have now, whether its being bullied, whether its racial, whether is being fired, whether its police brutality.....are more and more going to be acted out in mass killings....and not group is exempt....as we see recently with police shootings.
