The more people post about it, the more it's clear that they have no idea what it means. And as for "not knowing," I lived in the East End of London - an area that is known as a "no go" zone. I was safer and made to feel much more accepted there by my Muslim friends as a Jew than I did growing up in the deep South where my family and I faced violence due to our faith. The perpetrators? Not Muslims.
So crying about Muslims taking over? Not something I'm much concerned with. Not to mention I would welcome more Arab, Turkish, Persian, and southeast Asian restaurants.

Yes, but there is a slight difference. There are no "Christian" laws that is going to affect my daily life (and I am not a Christian) but there are a lot of Islamic laws which apply to everybody. What if her constituents want that women wear hijab in public anywhere in her district? What if they want to segregate restaurants/pools/buses by sex? What if they want to turn her district into little Somalia? And I don't mean eating ethnic food. How's she gonna vote?
I see many people have scoffed at your comment. It amazes me how people can just think things like that can never happen here. I'd love have them sit with a couple friends of mine that had to leave their country because it was getting to the point of convert or die. Years ago he told me that those that follow Islam can live along side Catholics with no issues, as long as things were balanced. The more the scales tipped in favor of Islam, the more control they took. Do people have their heads so far in the sand they don't see what has happened in other parts of the world ?
