Looks like I was RIGHT, AGAIN!
Kind of reminds me of the waitress that posted a slang term (N) on a receipt and cried fowl and it turned out to be false. Must suck to live with that every morning noon night and probably in dreamland too. Perhaps there is help for such individuals.
Not leaving a tip is not stiffing the waitress. That is if the service were bad or something the staff did offends.
I have not tipped a waitress for bad service. The tip is to recognize good service and reward it. Now this individual claims she gave good service and maybe she did.
The note looks to be written by 2 different people, but I am no expert.
TIP means "To Insure Promptness" . We leave fairly generous TIPs at the diners we frequently visit. The result over the years has been very good and prompt service. In this case we do get what we pay for.
Every Sunday my wife and I go to the same restaurant. We have for 14 years. In all these years only once have I failed to tip.
Our server was more concerned with gossiping with fellow staff and other customers than she was with her job. It normally takes less than 10 minutes for us to place an order. We waited at least that long to get a menu. Then we waited 20 minutes for her to come back to take the order. We then waited over a half hour to get our food.
This never happened before or since. I didn't leave a tip, but I did speak with the manager. The manager recognized my wife and I from our previous visits. He wanted to comp the meal, but I said no. I just want better service in the future.
A tip should never be automatic, it is not a right and it isn't an obligation. The server needs to earn the tip.
This scam has been done to death. People still fall for it?
