Perhaps this is a question that previous generations have asked of us.

Do you believe that today's youth possess the tools, knowledge, work ethic, self-discipline, values, and awareness to be able to fulfill the needs of and help lead our country into the future both fiscally and with social responsibility?

We are screwed UNLESS we need professionals at video games and web browsing.

The End is always near. Get comfy with that thought.

American youth? Coddled, hyper-sensitive, scheduled activities and endless sports? Sure, they will be fine. Compare and contrast to how kids are raised in China, Japan, the Middle East.

Yup, America will be just fine

I got my haircut last week at a local salon. The hairdresser poked me in the eye with her scissor handle, scratched my neck with her long fingernail, and caught my hair in the hair dryer ripping out a hunk of hair. After the hair dryer incident, I had enough. I got up and asked the manager of the salon if she could finish my blowout. The 24 year old hairdresser rushed out of the salon crying hysterically that I had criticized her. The manager said I was too hard on the girl. Too hard on her? I thought the hairstylist should have offered me an apology!

This is one example of dozens of stories I've experienced from this special snowflake generation. Many will flame me for it, but I don't have much hope for them surviving in the real world.

Is there an APP for that?

IME, most everyone who disparages today's youth are more than happy to make exceptions for their own kids. It's always someone else's kids who are the problem.

I have never met the soft ones mentioned here in CD-POC, like the fellow who called 911 over a mouse in his dorm, people complaining about triggers because something was written in chalk on the sidewalk, etc. Tend to be smart and earnest. Like me 25 years ago. If in college, they are concerned about a good job afterwards. If not in college and working then they are enjoying youth and residual income. Like me. Maybe not quite so optimistic about their future, but I did not have 24/7 whinning about the future in my ear.

Today's youth are only as good as the generation that raised them. Therefore, if there are any imperfections in today's youth, it's entirely their parents' generation's fault. Period.

While I will concede that parents certainly help to shape their children (for better or worse), what responsibility or ownership do you hold to an individual for making his/her own choices despite how he/she was parented? Are you saying that adult life experiences and education should really have no bearing on molding an individual regardless of whether his/her parents were fabulous or lousy?
