I know. I'm saying I don't find them fashionable or chic. In my grandparent's village in Portugal the old ladies who were in mourning would cover their heads and wear modest all-black clothing. But they were very old women. And literally nobody commanded they do this.
But you know, you're right. Babushkas don't carry the added baggage of being misogynist symbols of oppression for tens and tens of millions of women in the world who have no choice in whether they get to wear hijab or not.
While the west glorifies this piece of ugly cloth countless others in the Ummah suffer.

Western feminists are useless.
I don't find it fashionable or chic either. However, I think if they choose to wear that head scarf, it is their choice.
I am a conservative and I know a lot of conservative women feel the same way I do. We just don't care.
The burka is the most concealing of all Islamic veils, burka does look creepy to me though.

That's the great debate though, isn't it?
The conservative religious Muslim women who claim they wear it out of choice vs. the liberal Muslims, ex-Muslims and those with no voice claiming they don't have any choice in the matter.
I always go back to this photo:
Iranian women, post-Revolution, protesting against mandatory head coverings.
And btw, THIS woman is brave:
The news reporter and "rebel" hijabis in Playboy and beauty pageants in the west? They are NOT. They are often attention seekers expressing their identity in a defiant and purposely non-conformist manner.

I don't think they should be forced to wear head covering. But some Muslim women seem to choose to wear that head scarf.
Here in California, I see a lot of such women. lol
They don't bother me, I don't bother them. If they talk to me, I'll talk to them.
I asked a Muslim woman once if they are forced to wear head scarf, she said, nope.
As long as I don't have to wear that scarf, I don't really care.

The news reporter is not brave.
But the muslim female porn star, she is pretty brave because she can be killed by religious nutjob.
