You kind of have to be ok or you lose your relationship with your child. But I also know that it might take some time for parents to come around inside. Even Cher and Belinda Carlisle who knew in their hearts they're children were gay had to finalize it in themselves when their kids came out. But they kept loving their kids openly while dealing with it.
It must be so cruddy limiting yourself to this lifestyle. I grew up in a Baptist household and saw it for the hipocracy it was. It's just a forum to judge others for not conforming to your own views.
You are entitled to your own opinion. This issue wasn't to argue over whether people approve of Christianity or not, it was to point out the poster was improperly applying the scripture to tolerate and condone sin which it most certainly does not.
What's that saying about searching the Bible to verify that God hates the same people you do?

A lot of parents can't accept gay children because they are embarrassed of how it will look on them if they have a gay child. A lot of the stories about parents throwing their kids to the streets when they come out of the closet come down to that.
I am in the closet, a big part of it being my family. I have been out before, but my family completely broke down and fell apart. They ended up manipulating me into conversion therapy and I have been closeted ever since (it didn't work, but my family thinks it did).
I am very sorry your family cannot accept that you are gay. I don't believe there is a "therapy" that can remove your desire to be with the same sex. I did not have this situation with my kids, but if I had, I would have loved them the same. Kids that are gay, I can imagine spend a lifetime trying to find acceptance from family, coworkers and some friends.

Homosexuality has been observed in hundreds of different species of animals. Of course, the animal kingdom is not beholden to "man created social mental disorders" so I tend to believe that homosexuality is natural.
I would accept their feelings as being true. I don't agree with those who say homosexuality is a choice. With my beliefs and understanding about the world, I wouldn't be able to accept it though I understand it. I certainly wouldn't shun anyone, much less a family member. So under the strictest of definitions, no, I wouldn't accept it.
Anyone who doesn't accept their child is evil. I'm sorry but that is the definition of evil. You don't have to approve of one's lifestyle or share their beliefs but to disown your child is against Christianity and is the very embodiment of evil. Yes, you are evil if you would not accept your child. You should look in the mirror the next time you go to church and question where you are going after you die. As the Bible states, there are false prophets. Anyone who tells you not to love your child and accept them is a false prophet.
Put it away and start thinking for yourself. That's a very sad life you lead there. It says a lot about you too if your silly religion is more important than preserving your relationship with your child.
Hard to imagine Jesus telling anyone to turn their back on their children.
