I wonder why this is still an issue, as the IDF has mandatory conscription for both sexes for 2 years upon reaching majority age

It shouldn't be required of anyone. But until that day, women as well as men should be required to register. With "equality" comes responsibility.

Ah, do you have a clue? Are you speaking about Israel? or the U.S.? The U.S. requires all (biological...) males (U.S. citizens only) to register with the selective service. Males who don't conform can be arrested with no recourse. Males who don't register are not eligible to work for the government, such as the post office, or acquire any student grant money.

Sure. But I think that will increase the population (wink wink). Once there is no abortion allowed for the first trimester, there probably won't be many women to call into service. Preggers and those with babies can't serve.

We'll have a population boom, esp. low income population. Wealthy people get out of serving in the military, usually (Trump, Bush).

That's the reality. But for some, why shouldn't women get the benefits that men get from the military? For some women, it wouldn't occur to them to join the military, and some whose parents wouldn't let them, if they were contributing to their support.

Once spending time in the military shuffling papers or doing medical assistance, those women will have a lifetime of free healthcare, assistance with buying a first home, assistance in their senior years, preference for jobs.

Are you prepared for increased taxes for the increased military and accompanying benefits? With equality, comes responsibility to pay for it.

If I have to register for the selective service and get called to combat, women have to also. They are now able to serve in combat just like men.
