There has never been, in the modern era, a President whose potential conflict of interest with a foreign power has ever posed such a national security risk as this President.

Why should they have voted to see the President's tax returns? The people voted for him despite him not revealing his tax returns. This is a political issue. For as far as it is a legal issue, note that the President is under routine audit by the IRS, so there is official oversight into his taxes; if anything illegal comes up, it will come out in the normal legal channels.

Your point is? The public also wanted to see President Trump's tax returns before he was elected. And, yet, they still elected him despite him not showing them. Let's face it: despite the fact that "most" Americans want to see the president's tax returns, its apparently very low on their list of priorities or else he wouldn't be president today.
