He holds Catholic beliefs and has expressed them. He was invited to speak at a Catholic university. For some reason, a small percentage of students somehow didn't realize they had chosen to attend a CATHOLIC university, and the communication/expression of Catholic beliefs is part and parcel of that.

Same could be said for any or all Trump / Pence supporters.

You can't choose a ribeye dinner from a menu and then complain/protest when you're served a ribeye dinner. See what I mean?

Again you seem confused about what they were protesting. Not one said a word about same sex marriage or being pro-life.Trump supporters always assume "alternative facts" to persuade their discussion even when there is not a single ounce of truth in them.

Yes, he does. The Catholic Church is pro-life and forbids same-sex marriage. Any Notre Dame student who is/was surprised by that is an idiot. Notre Dame is a CATHOLIC university.

Read this thread. Pence has been trashed for expressing Catholic beliefs. Any Notre Dame student who is surprised that a Catholic holds Catholic beliefs is an idiot. They got what they deliberately CHOSE.

I apologize ,I thought you could understand what I had written, apparently not. Not sure the name calling is called for.If Pence says he has catholic values and campaigns with trump then he is a hypocrite and a liar.

Notre Dame is a leader in postsecondary education. Why should some ideological differences, which are a very small part of the education one receives at a religiously sponsored university, stop someone from pursuing a higher education at such an institution?
