Also, side note: diversity is a good thing from an evolutionary perspective.
Diversity is great when it happens naturally. If diversity is forced upon others then it actually has the opposite effect that is intended. For example the emphasis on race and gender identity politics has created the Alt Right and they feel it is OK to have white pride if ALL other groups also have pride. And they do this because the pro diversity people think ALL persons are awesome except "straight white males".

What a convenient argument for you.

And what does "forced diversity" even mean in the context of this thread? If someone comes here as an immigrant, and they happen to be different from the majority, is that "forced diversity"?

I totally understand the identity politics stuff you're talking about, and its negative side effects - but that is not what I'm talking about. I'm saying that at a very basic level, America is open to anyone and everyone. THAT is what makes it such an awesome country. And I definitely believe this principle has made us a better country over our history.

OK - then, well, we're all just basically the same anyway, since we all originated from the same place in the world, and are nearly identical genetically. Good luck defining "homogeneity" at a genetic level.

I bet you would be surprised at how diverse your own genetics are, even if you think you are 'one' thing. Take a genetic test, it can rather illuminating (and fun!).

So wait, doesn't the OP's point suggest that all people of the same nationality or ethnicity or race are all exactly the same? You could have a 100% white, 100% Catholic, 100% $50,000 individual income, 100% America society and you would still have an endless array of differences that would still cause problems. The problem isn't that people are different or that different people live within the same society, it's that humans just suck. We are not advanced enough as a species to know how to get along regardless of what demographics are in question.

Human beings have looked for every reason to fight someone else.

Somalia is mainly East African Cu****e ancestry. Somalis make up the vast majority in Somalia. And yet, people identify with their clan. This is a nation that is mainly ethnically Somalian, mainly Muslim. By all accounts, this is not a very diverse country. However, people from different clans would fight each other. The country is in a Civil War. Different clans are looking for power.

Agree. Your conceptions of what you are and where you came from will likely be blown out the window. The family stories about your ancestry are very often wrong. You may also discover a significant portion of your DNA is non-human.

People ARE tribal by nature. To try and fight that fact is playing with fire, better to accept it as who we are and to do a better job of basing our societies around that truth rather than to continue to preach the whole "diversity is our strength" mantra. Diversity is more often a source of conflict and division than a "strength". Wherever there is conflict around the world, its often because of peoples of different races and religions occupying a piece of land too closely to each other.

People tend to self segregate on their own. Creating majority neighborhoods of one race or another. Or even at a school lunch table. Humans tend to prefer to be around people with many similarities to themselves, and while race or culture is certainly not the only factor, its one of the largest factors.

Its interesting to note the unspoken rule of thumb regarding mostly racially homogenous other places in tbe world. Asia? Well thats mainly for Asians. Sub Saharan Africa? Land of the blacks. Indian sub continent? Indians. And so forth. But Europe and the US/Canada is for whites? Oh no!!! Those places are for EVERYONE!!
I actually agree with this.

I think the US needs to stop third-world migration immediately. We do not need these people here; they're competing with Americans for jobs across the economic spectrum. It's not right.

It doesn't really even have anything to do with skin color, either. At this point it's about cultural values. As Americans we have cultural values that we collectively share...that these people do not share and likely never will because there is no expectation for them to ever assimilate.

You nailed it. When diversity is forced it seems like the opposite result happens.
